Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.), the top Democrat on the House Rules Committee, has died at age 88, her office announced Thursday.

“To have met Louise Slaughter is to have known a force of nature. She was a relentless advocate for Western New York whose visionary leadership brought infrastructure upgrades, technology and research investments, and two federal manufacturing institutes to Rochester that will transform the local economy for generations to come," Liam Fitzsimmons, chief of staff, said in a statement.

Slaughter had been hospitalized after suffering a concussion in her home, her office said earlier this week.

The RNC purposely threw an election in my portion of the state because their selected rino didn’t win the primary.
I wouldn’t count on them either.

These fossils, McCain, Cochran, Slaughter and others prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that no physical stamina is required to serve in Congress. Apparently if you can breath and have a pulse you can pretend to do the job. Voters that reelect these people are fools.

Familiar name as for years, we got Rochester TV outlets (WHEC, WROC, and WOKR) and her name would be mentioned on the local Rochester newscasts.

I think it will be a Repub seat for the taking.

Really? I thought it was one of those gerrymandered "safe" Democrat districts in Rochester.

Had the Founders thought that property-owning men who had the vote would give way to democracy, where the most ignorant often choose our leaders, they would have included term limits in the Constitution.

With a last name like that it was ironic she was one of the most vocal pro-choice Dems in Congress. She was the head of their “Pro-Choice caucus.
