The special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, has subpoenaed the Trump Organization to turn over documents, including some related to Russia, according to two people briefed on the matter. The order is the first known time that the special counsel demanded documents directly related to President Trump’s businesses, bringing the investigation closer to the president.
The breadth of the subpoena was not clear, nor was it clear why Mr. Mueller issued it instead of simply asking for the documents from the company, an umbrella organization that oversees Mr. Trump’s business ventures. In the subpoena, delivered in recent weeks, Mr. Mueller ordered the Trump Organization to hand over all documents related to Russia and other topics he is investigating, the people said.
The subpoena is the latest indication that the investigation, which Mr. Trump’s lawyers once regularly assured him would be completed by now, will drag on for at least several more months. Word of the subpoena comes as Mr. Mueller appears to be broadening his investigation to examine the role foreign money may have played in funding Mr. Trump’s political activities. In recent weeks, Mr. Mueller’s investigators have questioned witnesses, including an adviser to the United Arab Emirates, about the flow of Emirati money into the United States.
Neither White House officials nor Alan S. Futerfas, a lawyer representing the Trump Organization, immediately responded to requests for comment. The Trump Organization has typically complied with requests from congressional investigators for documents for their own inquiries into Russian election interference, and there was no indication the company planned to fight Mr. Mueller about it.

I don’t know if it’s because we want to live in ignorant Bliss or we have become arrogant. But this guy Mueller isnt sessions. He is going to dig and dig and he will find a crime. Anybody can find a crime on anybody if it’s all they are doing. He didn’t hire 20 left-wing lawyers to do nothing to Trump. And with a still very powerful MSM out there, they can push their agenda and fool quite a few Americans. This is not psych ops. This is not some misleading hunt set up by the right. Clearly, Sessions is going to run the clock out considering, taking under advisement and constantly counseling, with his department that is still full of the Holder-overs, (with his assigned keeper, Rosensting*) while he has a case of nerves and fiddle fingers his nose, before he ever decides to stand upright on his own, and actually go to work.
Sessions has proven to be THE log jam.
Who knows, today, that it was Sessions, or, was it Rubenstein that finally recommended the December appointment of a no-name prosecutor to investigate the goings on of the JD.
(Rod Rubenstein surely sees the walls closing in on the whole institution he’s actually running, himself. He just assigned stooge Sessions to get to make the announcement.)
I remember last year or maybe in 2016 when Hillary Clinton's people were asked to turn over documents or evidence. People were asking at the time why the FBI didn't raid homes and businesses to get the evidence or at least subpoena it.
It seems like there are two sets of rules here -- kid gloves for deep-state subversives and brass knuckles for those trying to save the Republic. But I know that can't be true because Lady Justice is blind and we are a "nation of laws, not men."
This is old stuff. Mueller trying to get fired? Stop this insane witch hunt and invasion of privacy. Pure HATE POLITICS.
I would comply only after mule head subpoenas the clinton foundation material related to Russian. Until then pound sand...
Mueller’s group illegally leaked this to the media.
They want to get all the information about Trump’s business which they will then leak to the media.
They will then go back for decades looking for something, anything which they can say is a crime.
Trump and his attorney’s need to fight this subpoena all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.
Mueller has no authority whatsoever to subpoena Trump’s business records.
