Its nearing “financial disaster” while we are at the peak of 10 year bull market and unemployment rates are at the lowest in many years???

The “skim” taken by the permanent nanny state is becoming an unbearable burden.

And, as usual, liberals will flee NJ to lower-tax states.

Then they will proceed the ruin the latter through voting for the same policies that destroyed NJ.

Rinse, repeat.

New Jersey’s fiscal situation is so dire that new Governor Phil Murphy has proposed taxing online-room booking, ride-sharing, marijuana, e-cigarettes and Internet transactions along with raising taxes on millionaires and retail sales to fund a record $37.4 billion budget that would boost spending on schools, pensions and mass transit.

The proposal which is 4.2% higher than the current fiscal year’s, relies on a tax for the wealthiest that is so unpopular it not only has yet to be approved, but also lacks support from key Democrats in the legislature, let alone Republicans. It also reverses pledges from Murphy’s predecessor, Republican Chris Christie, to lower taxes in a state where living costs are already among the nation’s highest.

Murphy, a Democrat who replaced term-limited Christie on Jan. 16, said his goal is to give New Jerseyans more value for their tax dollars; instead he plans on bleeding them dry.

Oh joy!

I take it getting rid of the illegal parasites isn’t under consideration.

Nah, that would make sense.

It’s like metastatic cancer.

Or parasites.

Or the killer flu.

One way or the other, the host gets killed and the disease spreads to another victim.

What are the odds that most of the people who leave will vote Democrat in their new state?

They want to compete with NYS to have the highest number of people by percentage of population leaving the state. All caused by corrupt liberals and unions and the welfare state.

Exactly right. I worked with a group who moved from NJ. They loved the lower cost of living here. Yet, I had the impression, that they would vote in a heartbeat for the same “benefits” they had left behind.

Oddly enough, the sales tax hike is probably a great idea. With so many wealthy people fleeing this state, a very regressive tax is exactly what is needed here.

They haven’t elected anyone good in NJ since whom? All they have to fame is the birthplace of Frank Sinatra.

Sorry NJ-ites but I worked in Livingston, NJ for almost a year. There is NOTHING there to keep anyone there.

Once you get away from the Jersey Shore (quite nice in parts, I admit), Jersey is Barstow without the great weather.

At least So Cal (lived there all my life until 6 years ago) has spectacular weather and the ocean, the forest and skiing all within 2 hours (after the 1.5 hours to get the first 10 miles out of the metro area).

I have no idea why NJ thinks they will keep people there.
