MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. President Trump on Saturday again called for enacting the death penalty for drug dealers during a rally meant to bolster a struggling GOP candidate for a U.S. House seat here.
During the campaign event in this conservative western Pennsylvania district, the president also veered off into a list of other topics, including North Korea, his distaste for the news media and his own election victory 16 months ago.
Trump said that allowing prosecutors to seek the death penalty for drug dealers an idea he said he got from Chinese President Xi Jinping is a discussion we have to start thinking about. I dont know if this countrys ready for it.
Do you think the drug dealers who kill thousands of people during their lifetime, do you think they care whos on a blue-ribbon committee? Trump asked. The only way to solve the drug problem is through toughness. When you catch a drug dealer, youve got to put him away for a long time.
It was not the first time Trump had suggested executing drug dealers. Earlier this month, he described it as a way to fight the opioid epidemic. And on Friday, The Washington Post reported that the Trump administration was considering policy changes to allow prosecutors to seek the death penalty.

“””They dont. But theyre instrumental in getting the ball rolling.
To them - boys who are not docile as lambs is the result of some kind of pathological problem.””””””
Exactly. When my oldest boy was in first grade the teacher, who was a newbie, told us he should be on meds because he did not still still and was always looking around.
We told her to do her job and deal with t.
Twisted and distorted....this amounts to Fake News.
Yes. I agree with you. There is an unholy alliance between the schools and Big Pharma. The schools have turned into drug pushers.
“”””This is flat out a lie, Trump did not call for the death penalty for drug dealers. He merely compared the punishment in other countries to our own. Nothing new here, compost is disgusting.””””””
True. I knew when he said it that it would get spun around to mean everyone who sells a lid of weed would get the chair.
I have often thought the very same thing; drug pushers destroy lives. They should face the death penalty.
I would also make murdering a LEO an automatic quick trip to the chair.
their parents do that.
If that is what he said, it reflects what I’ve said for about thirty years. But it only sounded like he was commenting on its effectiveness to me.
Back in the 80s my son was put on Ritalin, at the request of a school "child studies team".
Could you refuse? I am just curious.
I honestly don't remember. It was sold to us as an aid to concentration while sitting still, something we now know that all REAL boys deal with to some degree.
I am with you FRiend!
Why wouldn’t you start with the thugs on street corners and houses?
There’s no disagreement with who they are and what they’re doing.
Or are you trying to complicate the issue so that a bunch of infighting happens and nothing gets done?
The problem with the never ending "War on Drugs" is that it is never consistent, laws are ambiguous, both political parties run it differently and worse of all is that cartels, pharmaceutical companies and government pull the strings.
Execute all the saloon owners ?
Oh come on now, we know who they’re talking about when they say execute Drug dealers, and it certainly isn’t pharmaceutical execs or Johnny Whitebread selling to his Ivy League school buddies.
There is an intermediate step that should be considered for upper tier ultra-potent Fentanyl analogue drugs: classify them as “weapons of mass destruction”.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equianalgesic
Basically, any drug more potent than the currently legal Fentanyl (50-100 times more potent than pure oral morphine.)
And Fentanyl itself is only legal when administered in a patch.
for example:
Participation in nuclear and weapons of mass destruction threats to the United States. 20 year penalty.
Use of weapons of mass destruction. Shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life, and if death results, shall be punished by death or imprisoned for any term of years or for life.
This takes away the ambiguity of the words “drug dealer”, because it specifies what they must be dealing in. This was a major problem in the War on Drugs, that no distinction was made between “soft” and “hard” drugs. In this case, only “deadly” drugs, as Weapons of Mass Destruction, would qualify.
“Back in the 80s my son was put on Ritalin, at the request of a school “child studies team”.
Why did you and your doctor go along with it?
