WASHINGTON (AP) It looks like President Donald Trump is getting the military parade he wants in Washington though he may get no tanks for the effort.
A Pentagon planning memo issued Thursday and released Friday says the parade being planned for Nov. 11, Veterans Day, will include wheeled vehicles only, no tanks consideration must be given to minimize damage to local infrastructure. Big, heavy tanks could tear up District of Columbia streets.
But the event will include a heavy air component at the end of the parade, meaning lots of airplane flyovers. Older aircraft will be included as available.

There is only one flyable B-29 left in the world and it belongs to a Texas outfit.
March on Vets Day!
Either in DC, or local, but this is the one to march and feel proud.
BTW, I have marched in a Vet's Day parade, and it was terrific.
No strict cadence (as in boot camp) but we walked in a comfortable and coordinated fashion.
You do not need your old uni. (It doesn't fit anyhoo.) I had a USAF VET hat, and a USAF polo (if it were any colder, you would have just seen a jacket.)
People along the route smiled and thanked (and I thanked THEM back).
The bands were playing stirring marching music
And, little kids gave me little thankyou notes.
Priceless!
Let us do this!
LET US DO THIS!
Thanks, President Trump, for the recognition and the chance to show this Fine Country our pride and spirit.
.
Play the 1812 Overture with booming SP guns blazing away.
Fly by with Trump’s plane.
Liberal heads will be exploding coast to coast as our awesome military is honored.
I can’t wait for the magnificent parade honoring the US military — past, present, and future.
Really? Yours too?
Looking forward to it as well.
My old man would be proud to see it, were he still here.
Yours too? What?
Saw Fifi up close and personal last summer up at the Reading PA WWII Weekend air show.
It is an awesome aircraft. I can only imagine a day when the sky was filled with them.
My father’s day.
My son too.
That was a good movie unlike most of what they put out today.
Lots of FMTV troop carriers dressed
in their “B” kit armor, and .50 cals
in the turrets.
I thought at one time, tanks could be
outfitted with rubber tracks just for
parade purposes?
Mix of comedy and drama. They got it right.
“Where Eagles Dare”, “Anzio” and “Tobruk” are a few more good ones from that time.
Never mind..
I want tanks too.
I’ll donate to gofundme to fix the road.

One of the most radical developments in traditional armored vehicle designs is beginning to emerge on a number of tactical platforms around the world. It doesnt involve new protective armor or a new cannon system, but rather the replacement of the linked bands of steel track shoes with a single track band that is primarily rubber.

I never do.
Make Vets Day Great(er)!
To many people it’s just another day - maybe all the buzz about the parade will get people excited.
I was at the Vietnam memorial just before they opened the WWII memorial saw a helicopter flyover of a few osprey chinooks Hueys etc. Got the same feeling.
