Trump’s Stunningly Effective North Korea Policy Leaves Professional Diplomatic Corps Gobsmacked
CTH ^ | March 8, 2018

The statement tonight by South Korean National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong is so jaw-dropping in significance it has left the professional diplomatic apparatus stunned.

A year of targeted and strategic geopolitical policy execution by President Trump, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has resulted in North Korean leader Kim Jong-un accepting denuclearization and requesting a meeting with President Trump to achieve terms therein.

The possibility of a willingly denuclearized Korean peninsular is such an astounding policy victory; it is difficult to conceptualize. Here’s the statement from South Korea’s Chung Eui-yong:

“Good evening, today I had the privilege of briefing President Trump on my recent visit to Pyongyang, North Korea. I’d like to thank President Trump, the vice-president and his wonderful national security team, including my close friend General McMaster.”

“I thanked President Trump that his leadership, and his maximum pressure policy together with international solidarity, brought us to this juncture. I expressed President Moon Jae-in’s personal gratitude for President Trump’s leadership.”

“I told President Trump that in our meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong-un said he is committed to denuclearization. Kim pledged that North Korea will refrain from any further nuclear or missile tests; he understands that the routine joint military exercises between the Republic of Korea and the United States must continue. And he expressed his eagerness to meet President Trump as soon as possible.”

“Is a Nobel peace prize in the offing?
Hahahaha! .. I just crapped my pants.”

To think that Obama got a Nobel peace prize before he had done anything. That just proves it is a political “prize”.

Exactly....That's been a given....there are 6 nations involved. Meeting Kim on a one to one is not advised.

It's propaganda.

Except for one thing. Kim is supreme leader and can single-handedly stop the nuclear program. The neutered shmucks with the giant hats and 400 medals can't stop him. Nobody else in the country has a say in the matter. They can try to replace Kim, but that would be in our favor too.

The announcement stated that the scheduled US ROK exercise will take place
If this indeed happens and the talks go forward - and there are no provocations... it is a real sea change

Except for the big “Quake” late last year at the Nork nuclear site. Rumours swirl 200 Nork scientist were killed.

If true, the north and south Koreans have hammered out the details these past four months, capped by a signing ceremony at the Olympics (Pence attended the Olympics, with Ivanka (the trusted one) on the last day)

China and Russia are simply not going to give up NK.

They might be willing to give up a nuclear NK. They really don't need NK as a test range, there's plenty of other places to do that.

It’s been NK strategy for 50 years to remove the US from protecting SK

It's now NK strategy to blackmail our troops with tactical nukes. We need to get our troops out of there ASAP.

He's been calling for a one on one meeting with President Trump since he took office.

WIthout preconditions. But Trump insisted on the preconditions and now he got them. That includes a moratorium and continuing exercises.

That could well be the rumor that has fat Kim’s undies all in a tizzy. They may well be out of options. In addition they run out of dough this fall, its all starting to cave in on the Norks. But still do we ever trust them for even a minute—helll no.
If the Norks are playing the long game all they do is wait until the commies are in office here and they are back in business.

What if the Norks unconditionally surrender and end the Korea War, allowing all of the US Troops to come home.

That would justify a HUGE parade in DC!!!

More likely talks will stall when it comes to free and fair elections in Norkville.....All fat kim wants is to stay in power, never happens with a fair and free election.

A mere statement from Kim is not even a glass half full. It means nothing..

Let Kim sign a total surrender ending the Korean War, removal of all troops on the border, five years with "0" threats to any other power....and no testing.

AND the engagement of the other 5 countries in the coalition along with President Trump.

There is no victory.

The Chinese and North Korea have gotten what North Korea has demanded for years - face to face U.S.-North Korea negotiations with no preconditions that North Korea must meet to have such a meeting.

Ignored is that (a) North Korea may meet with South Korea but does not consider the South Korean government legitimate, and (b) North Korea considers the U.S. as “in charge of” South Korea, and (c) the only “peace” North Korea seeks is U.S. agreement on “reunification” of Korea, on the North’s terms.

What’s going on now is all a show that ignores all that. If Trump ignores it all, he does so at the peril of South Korea immediately and the U.S. and Japan longer term.

Trump would not win the Peace Prize even if he suddenly had an acceptable peace plan between Israel and the murdering muzzies who call themselves by a false name, and even if he got all the muzzies to love Israel. He could get them to be the very best of pals, however, he would not win. They would give it to obammy or the Beast for having a press conference and telling us about their vacations to Hawaii. Those would be more earth shattering important to liberals.
