President Donald Trump has agreed to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un by this May, South Korea's national adviser announced at the White House Thursday evening. He had briefed the president on a message from Kim earlier in the day.
The South Korean envoy said that in his recent talks with Kim, the North Korean leader had expressed an eagerness to meet with Trump as soon as possible.
He said that Kim had said he was committed to denuclearization, suspending more missile tests, and had agreed that U.S.-South Korean joint military exercises the North objects to must continue.
The dramatic disclosure came after Trump told reporters Thursday afternoon to expect a major announcement from South Korea.
That word from the president comes after a South Korean delegation met with top national security officials at the White House complex earlier in the day.
After Trump ducked into the White House briefing room to tease the announcement, ABC News' Jonathan Karl ran into Trump himself who told Karl the announcement was going to be a big deal.

Good grief.
Again with the Q nonsense?
Can’t you just give Trump the credit he deserves without bringing up some imaginary alphabet letter?
Dude, the stupid is strong in you. Look at the water in the greener pic. A storm. Look in the orange (funny) pic. Calm, almost idyllic. I am not a big Q’r, but so far he has been very right a lot of the time. Q is military intel and not deep state intel. Why do you think Trump is shunning the FBI, CIA and State. Why do you think Bolton got his mustache shaved by Carlson with 8 words. Think man, think.
Here is the Freeper thread on Q. I found it most helpful. Much of the gibberish, as you call it, is explained.
Can’t hurt to look at it.

Does NK have a full arsenal of working nukes ?
Do they even have any ?
You really drank the Qool-Aid didn’t you
“They were both [State and DoD] intricately involved and well aware. Its just that the leaks have been plugged.”
I agree, the leaks were plugged, and the MSM doesn’t want to give Trump’s State or DoD credit any more than they want to give Trump credit.
For example, what if the “cave in” last year that buried the NK nuke development facility and their top 200 scientists was no accident? What if it was a US kinetic energy weapon ordered by Trump and the reason NK is offering to give up their nuke program unconditionally is that they have no nuke program anymore, courtesy of Trump, his State and his DoD?
Meanwhile, the Left and its MSM mouthpieces were happy to report the event as an accident, and will continue to do so, rather than admit the Trump administration was able to destroy rocket man with a single covert blow.
Another Qool-Aid drinker that has read too much Tolkien and needs to return to the Shire.
Well I guess you are living up to your moniker.
Will Denis Rodman be the Fat One’s interpreter with Trump??
Not “nuclear program”. An arsenal of tested nukes. No regime with working nukes has given them up.
Then there are people like you. The Troy Horse could be incoming and you would be one of the fools that let it slip right in.
“The Troy Horse could be incoming and you would be one of the fools that let it slip right in.”
If you are referring to the story of the Trojan Horse, the analogy makes no sense in this context - YOU are the gullible cult follower, not me.
LOLO!!! Why could I not think of something that funny?
Sadly, it could very well be where Mueller goes next. His team is globetrotting in search of something to pin on Trump
Leftists take note: Calling him rocket man did not set off a nuclear war. Trump saying that his button was bigger did not launch rockets toward us. It showed the insane maniac that Trump was the stronger man. Bammy would have bowed down in submission to the ideology he loves so much: communism, and let the maniac walk all over us.
That's exactly what I emphasized, applicable to Libya and Qaddafi, because I cited the relevance of it to North Korea and Kim (and tangentially, Iran):
But, strictly for historical reference, there was a case of a nation giving up actual nukes, not just the nuclear programme, though under unique (they would have to be!) and proper circumstances see South Africa and weapons of mass destruction :
The nukes were developed with probable involvement of Israel, and F.W. de Klerk obviously did the right thing before turning over the government to ANC.
Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine also gave up the nukes after becoming independent republics with the fall and breakup of the USSR, but those nukes were developed and silo-ed by the USSR, not as a result of their national programmes.
The real question is whether North Korea can be convince to give up the weapons long-term. They have to see it in their interest not just now but tomorrow. Trump can only Ensure that interest for the next three to seven years. It is logical for them to try and go for time.
” It is logical for them to try and go for time.”
Here’s something I agree with Linda Graham on: If the Norklandians try to play Trump and fail to uphold any element of any agreement, they are committing suicide.
Hell, the only reason they’re talking nice now is because of his certain determination to destroy them.
So, it’s either pursue this path in a verifiable, and TIMELY manner...or, destroy them now.
