Maxine Waters just cranked the identity politics up to “max.”
The Democratic California congresswoman delivered an emotional address in Selma, Ala. on Saturday, telling her audience that she will sponsor legislation to provide African Americans with “reparations” for slavery if Democrats take back the House in this year’s midterm elections.
Waters also took aim at President Trump, criticizing his feud with Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un.
“This business about who’s the biggest, who’s the baddest, who’s got the biggest gun,” Waters said. “This president keeps edging that on. You know, he’s a bully. He has a bully mentality.”
The 79-year-old lawmaker called for a president who “not only has good sense, but understands diplomacy and understands what we need to do to have peace in this world, so that we can all look forward to the possibility where we’re someday gonna have a world that’s about peace and justice and respect for individual liberty.”
At that point, CNN commentator Angela Rye asked, “Is that your stump speech for 2020?” The audience erupted in applause.
Shortly after, a man in attendance asked Waters if she would support a reparations bill for blacks that had been sponsored by former Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), who stepped down last year amid sexual harassment allegations.
“I’ll be happy to do that,” Waters replied.
She continued:
“But let me tell you this: In order to get where we need to go on this issue and other issues, we’ve really got to understand that 2018 is important to taking back the House and taking back the Senate. And, of course, we’ve got to get the White House.
“If we want to get to the point where we can get reparations, we’ve got to have the power to do that, number one, by having a supportive president would be wonderful, but taking back the House would be absolutely wonderful. “
The Democrat went on to tout her position as the ranking member of the House Financial Services Committee, and vowed to “take care” of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson should Democrats gain a majority in Congress.
“But let’s understand, I need y’all to register and vote. I need to take back that House so that we can have a majority in the committee. I am the ranking member of the financial services committee that overseas Wall Street and HUD and all of that–and by the way, we gonna take care of Ben Carson, too.”
Maxine should pay me “reparations” — her ugly face made me puke all over a keyboard and wreck a laptop. (Jk)

Waters knows that the Race Card has protected her all these years from any reproach for her irrational comments. The problem is, the Race Card, like her age (78), has worn thin her strength. She may find her re-election in 2018 a loss against the 28 year-old conservative Latino challenger Omar Navarro.
It's useful idiots such as Representative Waters who are holding blacks back.

The race card is becoming meaningless in a country that is increasingly Hispanic and Asian; these people know they owe blacks nothing and don’t mind saying so publicly.
I hope Mad Maxine goes to her grave without ever seeing any reparations beyond the 50 years’ worth we just p!ssed away.

Didn’t we just wake up from an 8-year nightmare where Maxine had her supportive president, and at one point, the house and all that power?
Maxine Waters is still a slave, still on the plantation. She blames all of her woes on de whi’ man. All this after White America elected a black president,,,,TWICE?
She should no longer be given milk from that white cow. The handouts just make her and her confreres want to be field hands forever.
Maxine and the black Congressional caucus, that does not allow Republican black folk to participate fully in their caucus, have one qualifying standard: You gotta still be a field hand slave to get in and have a say.

Maxine and the whole Al Sharpton based race mongering Black Caucus needs to be de-elected. This November is an excellent opportunity.

As long as there’s “the game” on TV, no one will join together to fight for freedom in any numbers and we’ll denounce anyone who does becuase it might disrupt TV and hurt the precious 401k.

I was thinking about your points while writing my post. The Race Card will be ineffective against Omar Navarro who will deliver crushing blows to the Water’s campaign. California, with their lax border control, has become a Latino bastion with most of the illegals registered to vote. A big part of winning a political campaign is playing the demographics. Navarro will be in he game to win it.
There have been tensions in the NYC area between these two groups for years, as a growing Hispanic population gradually takes council seats and such from blacks as their populations recede. Both groups were targeted with race-baiting by Dems, now Hispanics want payment. This was even an issue in selecting the DNC chair, and the Hispanic Perez beat out the black Ellison.
Dems can never keep everyone happy when they promise everything to everyone; I suspect this led to Trump winning white women in 2016.
If the GOP had any public relations savvy they would encourage Maxine to introduce a reparations bill. Make sure the legislation provides for the funding, preferably a tax on specific segments of the population.
Make this the big issue in the media during the home stretch of the 2018 elections.
Start hearings the first of August and bring the legislation to a floor vote 30 days before election day, just in time for early voters to be aware of it. Force every Democrat member of Congress to cast a recorded vote just before they go to the voters. Let every Democrat candidate face the choice of explaining to black voters why they didn’t vote for the legislation or explain to white voters why they voted to tax them for reparations.
Unfortunately Mr. Ryan and Mr. McConnell don’t play politics this way.

I don’t know if you say that Amazon was looking for a new location. One of their key criteria was “diversity”. They calculated it by determining the percentage of the population that was foreign born.
Wonder what Maxine thinks about that discrimination against native born black people?
