Trump Wants Joe Manchin’s Gun Control, Rejects Steve Scalise’s National Reciprocity Push
Breitbart ^ | 2/28/18 | AWR HAWKINS

Posted on 02/28/2018 5:11:24 PM PST by OneVike

President Donald Trump embraced Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) gun control bill but rejected Rep. Steve Scalise’s (R-LA) push for national reciprocity during a bipartisan meeting with lawmakers Wednesday afternoon. After listening to Sen Chris Murphy (D-CT), Trump looked at toward the end of the table and asked Sens. Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) to detail their gun control bill.

The Manchin/Toomey gun control bill is the same universal background check legislation supported by Barack Obama in the wake of the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School. It the very bill that was defeated in the Democrat-controlled Senate on April 17, 2013.

Toomey described it for Trump, saying the bill “strengthens the reporting of information into the background check system” and “requires background checks on all commercial sales.” This is code-talk for requiring background checks on private gun sales, which Toomey described as sales at gun shows and online (even though online sales already require a background check).

Manchin then spoke and suggested that West Virginians will support the Manchin/Toomey gun control bill if Trump will support it. He did not mention that the Manchin/Toomey bill would not have prevented the Florida attack — just as it would not have prevented the Sandy Hook attack that spawned it.

Trump spoke of the using the Manchin/Toomey bill “as a base” to which other gun bills can be added, and then continued taking comments from various senators and representatives in attendance.

When it was Rep. Scalise’s time to speak, he highlighted the crime-fighting value of concealed carriers and the need to pass national reciprocity legislation.

I just wonder if he is trying to get a bill that would end up in a SCOTUS challenge counting fully on it’s rejection.

An excercise in stenghtening the Constitution?

Dangerous Don the 45th?!?!

Might not want other things attached to it because?
I don’t know if I can handle 7 more years of this speculative excersise.
I’m out, I have a Trump chess headache.

So vote Democrat?

So we can stick it to the RINOS? Right?

Lets pull another Roy Moore

Stupid

Flip the script and turn the focus back on the FBI

How?

Stop talking about this stuff, this is what the MSM elites want us to focus on

Start talking about the obvious failures of the FBI, so numerous to list. Why do we have a political federal police force that ignores school shooter threats but will investigate a fan fiction “dossier” that originated on 4chan? Are urinating hookers something we really need to investigate? But yet, not a single investigation on a crazy kid threatening to shoot up a school?

Change the script. that is what we do.

Background checks are basically the affirmative action of gun control managed by government.

1. the FBI sees no use in funding for investigation of people who acquire weapons illegaly or enforce privileges with them. Instead we get a DMV secretary checking if you are a no fly list.

2. The FBI the forces the person who is on the nofly list to prove they are innocent instead of the FBI having burden of proof and feeling the need to incestigate real cases of gun abuse.

3. background checks should be for access to privilege like school, not rights like guns. The result of affirmative action means that privileges have become a right and thus a way for terrorists to penetrate such privileged institutions without vetting. Ergo, going for gun background checks instead or taking guns away instead of privilege curtailing is not going to prevent terrorist setting up shop for various forms of complex and assumetric attacks on their targets.

Trump has my support for as long as he is protecting my interests. Any direct or indirect national gun registry is non-negotiable. No, thank you.

Trump is feeding the swamp with the very funding that will be used to impeach him.

The ATF is not Law Enforcement , it is an activist organization.

No.

My civil rights are sacred.

I do not appreciate no one being fired from in FBI for dereliction of duty, and in lieu of that, my civil rights being attacked and/ or used as pawns in some stupid game.

No f*ckin’ way. Very stupid move.

Possibility. Him telling the AG to change language in current laws to ban bump stocks will end up in the courts because they do not have that power.

Do what I do, sit back and enjoy the show. Smile to yourself every time something like this comes up.

In 13 months he’s already accomplished 64% of his agenda according to a headline I read today. Seems he is doing pretty good.

The 2A is not an election issue , per say. If Trump feeds the swamp , I will keep voting and contributing to him but it will be to naught as he has fallen on his own sword.

Ie he will end up funding for his own impeachment after Mueller has restaff d his cabinet accordingly.

Nothing my vote or campaign contribution can change that.

“Poorly defined. Leaving the details up to the unelected will be amother disaster.”

That’s the problem with most laws, whether they be gun, ecology, transportation or whatever. The folks writing the regs around the laws have the real political power.

Enforce existing law. That little nut job in FL should have been in a straight jacket years ago.

I have learned to concentrate more on what actually happens and less on exactly what, or how Trump says things. Yes, it is quite a show for sure.
I am a big fan of his Twitter use.

Congress have been derelect in their duty to write the laws, run the budget, and review bureaucratic operation.

They seem lazy and unwilling to accept responsibility....

So it’s ok for the President to just be talkin but not us?

If any gun control whatsoever comes out of this administration President Trump will serve only one term. In fact if he does not start dialing this statist crap back the Republicans will lose the majority in the mid terms and this party will be over before it ever got started.

Every time he starts a twitter storm I wonder what’s going on behind the scenes that he’s distracting everyone from.

It does not matter how strong the background checks are if the government keeps screwing up. The present system would have kept the SC church shooter, the Texas church shooter and the latest school shooter from legally buying guns if the federal government had done the right thing. If the federal government is going to run programs like the “Promise Program” where they prevent the arrest of criminals and the reporting of crimes, why even bother with a background check system?

What is the argument against strong background checks?

Come live in NJ or any Constitutional "slave" state and find out. Even relatively conservative states have areas of liberal idiots and many conservatives in Congress are spineless along with the dummy Supreme Court. The problem with ANYTHING concerning 2A is that most of government is run by liberal hacks so guess who does background, determines mental health, ultimately decides who is worthy of a Constitutional INALIENABLE GOD GIVEN RIGHT? The plan is to destroy 2A rights by the sheer weight of government, stupidity of people and a 1000 cuts or 1000 more people in massacres.

I have to admit, if Donald freaking Trump can’t drain the swamp, nobody can. Do you think a non swamp creature could ever win the White House ever again? Do you think they will allow that mistake happen twice? Without Trump we are so screwed.

Trump has very few allies in DC, everyone is looking to stab him in the back at any opportunity he can. Jeff Sessions did him a giant disservice by recusing himself. He put a choir boy in that spot, he should have put a pit bull there.

Who can Trump trust?
