President Donald Trump embraced Sen. Joe Manchins (D-WV) gun control bill but rejected Rep. Steve Scalises (R-LA) push for national reciprocity during a bipartisan meeting with lawmakers Wednesday afternoon. After listening to Sen Chris Murphy (D-CT), Trump looked at toward the end of the table and asked Sens. Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) to detail their gun control bill.
The Manchin/Toomey gun control bill is the same universal background check legislation supported by Barack Obama in the wake of the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School. It the very bill that was defeated in the Democrat-controlled Senate on April 17, 2013.
Toomey described it for Trump, saying the bill strengthens the reporting of information into the background check system and requires background checks on all commercial sales. This is code-talk for requiring background checks on private gun sales, which Toomey described as sales at gun shows and online (even though online sales already require a background check).
Manchin then spoke and suggested that West Virginians will support the Manchin/Toomey gun control bill if Trump will support it. He did not mention that the Manchin/Toomey bill would not have prevented the Florida attack just as it would not have prevented the Sandy Hook attack that spawned it.
Trump spoke of the using the Manchin/Toomey bill as a base to which other gun bills can be added, and then continued taking comments from various senators and representatives in attendance.
When it was Rep. Scalises time to speak, he highlighted the crime-fighting value of concealed carriers and the need to pass national reciprocity legislation.

Did you watch the whole thing?
***
Of course; did you?
For that matter, did you even read the act being proposed? You know, the one endorsed by the NRA? The one that’s actually going through Congress instead of the one in the fevered imaginations of the Chicken Little Caucus?
Back before the Democrats emptied the asylums, the people that the background checks would be catching wouldn’t be allowed to have firearms anyways... because they’d be in an asylum.
Hopefully, President Trump is playing the gun grabbers. But we cannot sit back and watch. We have to call, email and write Congress and the President fighting against the Manchin bill.

You are correct.
He lacks the guerrilla resistance focus of the beginning. He is going for the wrong battles on the wrong side, giving his enemies weapon and funding.
He has become pompous and does not realize the danger we all are in.
What's your solution? Obvious Y'all don't want to "illegally" take guns from such as Cruz even as you rail that the "Law" did nothing to stop him. What is the law on the mentally ill such as him that can present within certain parameters of social discourse? Do you know? Or, do you just know what sounds "Bad - real bad - I mean really really bad" to you and decide it's OK to ignore the total reality because, well just because?
Syria? Really? None of our business.
I immediately clench when I hear politicians saying: “We have to do something now.” Inevitably, that leads to loss of freedom and liberty.
In this case, the government bureaucracy in Broward County screwed up in unimaginable fashion and two weeks later the swamp is negotiating infringements on our constitutional rights.
The guy walked into a school he had been expelled from in broad daylight carrying weapons and killed 17 kids while deputies cowered outside. What exactly does that have to do with my rifle? Or, where and how I can purchase my rifle?
That is a huge jump from absolute support for President Trump to an absolute rejection of the best president since Ronald Reagan. I will not support Trump on anything that restricts the individual, God-given right of law-abiding Americans to keep and bear arms. I will, however, continue to support him on those issues where he is right.
Trump_Deplorable, you might want to ease up on the bongwater. /s
You can do amazing things with drones and remote sensors.
However, Detection, classification, and nventory of inanimate objects composed of metal, composites, and wood inside an enclosed structure is not one of them. Lack of a phenomenology with unique and well-defined signatures, transmissivity of the structure, and signal to noise ratio are some of the issues.
If you still are concerned check out Signals Defense, LLC, SD2500 film for your windows and use TVM Building Products Ultra NT SCIF Barrier as a vapor barrier in your walls.
On the other hand you can use a drone with remote sensors to detect the presence of "recreational pharmaceuticals" due to the outgassing of volatile organic compounds with unique and well-defined mass spectrometry / mass chromatogram signatures.
I understand, we should sit back and trust Trump, he hasn’t sold us out yet, why would he start?
Thats it. Get the RATS back in power cuz’ that will be better lololololol
I disagree. We have to speak out clearly. President Trump has not sold us out. Yet. Any law infringing on our individual right to defend ourselves would be selling us out. We owe it to him to make that clear.
The single unifying theme of President Trump’s term is not conservatism - that was President Reagan. The theme is keeping his campaign promises to us. We need to let him know that new gun laws (other than concealed carry reciprocity, the Hearing Protection Act, or other restorations of our rights) would be a betrayal.
Trump did not say he disfavored the universal carry bill proposal. Trump said he opposed attaching it to the background check because it would kill the bill
That is, if background check strengthening is to be killed, it will be on it’s own
Of course, that subtlety gets lost in the irrational irrelevant hot air
.
Are you totally unaware of the fact that the NRA wrote the 1968 act?
They love gun laws because they funnel money into their dishonest coffers.
GOA is our best resource, not NRA.

>> “Whos the one who panicked the last four times when it turns out nothing happened?” <<
You? - I saw nobody panicing on the analytical side here. Big talk-no solution guys like you help nothing.
.
Yet he still wants to ignore the constitution and the fact he has no constitutional power to outlaw bumpstocks.
You are alright with him doing an Obama end run around the constitution by ignoring the separation of powers and the constitution by claiming by fiat that bumpstocks are outlawed?
LOL! I’m in the Peoples Republic of Maryland!
At least my district voted for Bush over Gore, we got a Repub governor and we got term limits for the county counsel members.(Although I did tell people it was a bi-partisan movement but I never met a rat volunteer!)
That's a 'quotable quote,' if I ever saw one!
;>)
Don't be silly. We can't let him be impeached! If he was impeached, we'd end up with Pence as President!
Oh, wait...
