For two weeks in Pyeongchang, the Winter Olympics have mostly served as a respite from the daily grind of politics back in the United States. For at least one Team USA athlete, that changed leading up to and during the closing ceremony.
Gus Kenworthy, a freestyle skier from Colorado who finished 12th in the ski slopestyle event, fired off two pointed tweets Sunday night in South Korea.
After the Olympic Athletes from Russia beat Germany in the men's hockey gold medal game, Kenworthy retweeted a Los Angeles Times story with the comment, "Russia's biggest win since the 2016 US Presidential election!"
Hours later, after the opening ceremony had begun, he tweeted a photo of Team USA athletes preparing to enter the stadium, with this message: "So proud of all these people! Everybody here has worked so hard to make it to the Olympics and have the opportunity to walk in the closing ceremony! W

Time to dump the Olympics, its days are past.
It goes back to the universal truth - ‘liberalism is a mental illness’.
So a loser is taking cheap shots at a Trump.
What else is new?
His comments prove one thing...douche bags come in all shapes and sizes...... pretty typical millenium mush brain who thinks it revolves around them.... SOOO glad I have not watched any Olympics.
Exactly! I’m supposed to care about the thoughts from someone who adds NO value to add to my life?
What? No transgenders?
ISGAS, olympians.
I Scarcely Give A Sh.....
12th? Somebody should have worked harder...
I didnt realize we still have an Olympic team. George Patton is turning in his grave.
Hes another of the gay olympians who wants to take a potshot at the Trump administration! Its OK for lefties to go after the First Family!
“So a loser is taking cheap shots at a Trump. What else is new?”
He and Adam Rippon both took shots at President Trump, VP Pence, and now Ivanka.
Kenworthy and Rippon are both homosexuals who are more concerned with promoting their sexuality than their country. Scumbags.
I love the fact the Rippon was not invited to skate last night during the skating gala. Invitation only. HA! Good.
And if it weren’t for NBC and the rest of the corrupt media reporting it as news, we’d never know about it. I hope NBC is losing billions.
disagree! - international sports, although limited to a small sector, does wonders at bringing down walls of misunderstanding among peoples.
The big mouths on some of the US athletes who have mush for brains, plus all the political hype and doping scandals are the reasons that I have not watched a single Olympic event this year.
Liberals take the joy out of everything. First time in my life I have not followed the Olympics. Im sorry for the athletes that just want to compete, but they are overshadowed by their politically leftist teammates.
Is Ken gonna chant “ We’re number 12! We’re number 12!”
Agreed - same as with football, expressing liberalism is totally allowed regardless of any stated policy to the contrary.
Look for Olympians to weigh in on 2nd Amendment rights and Roe v. Wade, and I’m sure they’d be censured.
Ivanka is there to help spread peace and cooperation with our neighbors.
Kenworth has done nothing in his life but lose skiing down a hill. And the snarky snowflakes wonder why no one cares to turn on the tv to watch them.
