DEVELOPING: Sources familiar with events surrounding the shooting tell @CBSMiami that when Coral Springs police arrived within minutes of the shooting call, they found not only the BSO School Resource Officer outside the school taking up a defensive position but at least three other @browardsheriff deputies who were waiting outside the school. The Coral Springs officers were told by BSO officers on the scene to wait, but the Coral Springs officers blew past them and immediately entered the building.
These events were first reported by @CNN. A spokeswoman for @browardsheriff and @ScottJIsrael confirms they are investigating if BSO deputies waited while kids were dying. Sheriff Israel earlier tried to dismiss these questions by saying when Coral Springs went in the shooter had already fled. But as one senior law enforcement source told me, at the time BSO was waiting outside they had no idea if the shooter was still inside. They needed to act and they didn’t

I am on a security team (for no extra pay) this suits me as it allows ME to protect myself.
We have meetings and are encouraged to brainstorm, but who ever is the biggest bull rules “We value your input” is pure Hokem.

The point is that Nikolai Cruz had enough ammo and time to kill dozens more. He was in complete control because NO ONE, NOT THE POLICE or any one else stopped him. He chose to leave and escape as opposed to suicide by cop.
The LEO response did nothing to stop the carnage. Cruz quit shooting.
Question? How many more would he be allowed to kill before they did act?
How long? How many lives per minute?

You stumbled unknowingly into the truth. One shot by any weapon towards this prick would do PRECISELY what you suggest, TAKE AWAY his focus on killing kids.

Not unknowingly.

Common sense is a limited commodity these daze.
All that goofy deputy had to do was _try._ Even if the count remained unchanged and he emerged unhurt, he almost certainly would have been credited with looking for the shooter and saving lives if he’d just gone in and tried.
How once charges into the line of fire or uses duck and cover tactics is likely due to the surroundings and amount of adrenaline coursing thru their minds.
But any defensive posture (and now even the likelihood of concealed carry persons at the lecterns) takes the killers motive into Phase 2.
A large part of this insanity is people are disconnected in a connected world
No one talks, they “chat” and do what everyone does even if its BS

The kids at the Vegas country concert were braver and saved more lives than these cops. What an embarrassing shame! It’s especially shameful when Scott Israel had the nerve to be congratulated by POTUS on the podium.
Sheriff under his breath, ...”Whew, if the country only knew how horribly we responded and stopped nothing, as Cruz had already completed his rampage.” and “Hope no one finds out about us ignoring this murderer’s threats and all.”
