When Coral Springs police officers arrived at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14 in the midst of the school shooting crisis, many officers were surprised to find not only that Broward County Sheriff's Deputy Scot Peterson, the armed school resource officer, had not entered the building, but that three other Broward County Sheriff's deputies were also outside the school and had not entered, Coral Springs sources tell CNN. The deputies had their pistols drawn and were behind their vehicles, the sources said, and not one of them had gone into the school.

I tried to find that interview but can’t.
I did find some details. They drove up, saw muzzle flashes through a window. Got out of the car and running towards the building they were shot at. They returned fire, hitting him once. The gunman went into a classroom and killed himself.
So yeah - I guess seeing muzzle flashes they at least knew where one shooter was. (From the 911 calls they are just calling about one shooter). First 911 call at 10:38. Detectives and a highway patrol officer show up at 10:44.
Still - I’m guessing these Broward County guys would have stayed behind their squad cars.
The oregon shooting, the gunman asked people that were Christians to stand up - then he shot them. Ten dead.
Yes...that was the school where the “student council” decided there would be no guns on campus

That’s what I heard, Peterson was getting about $80,000 per year..Not to mention that gold plated pension. Great gig if you can get it.
I just did a search for that (Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, OR). I couldn’t find anything about anything after the shooting. In articles just a few days after the shooting it did say the the campus policy is no knives, guns, drugs, etc. HOWEVER, the state policy is that anybody with a concealed carry permit IS allowed onto campuses - and that it is legal - no matter what the school says.
Several students that had their weapons on them were in another building, but were persuaded to not run over to the other building to confront the shooter.
One guy, Army vet Chris Mintz was shot 5 times (survived) as he blocked a doorway and told the shooter that he wasn’t getting into the class room (full of students). Too bad that Mintz hadn’t had a weapon on him.
I am also wondering if they were told to “stand down”.
The only thing the Broward cops will confront in a gunfight is an unarmed dog.

In Broward County org chart, I wonder who Sheriff Israel reports to directly. Who has hiring/firing power, if anyone? I believe Sheriff is an elected position there. He needs to be arrested. Incompetence X 10. And he has no shame — always out there in front of the cameras.
Broward County = Democrat, incl. in particular the Sheriff.
It seemed so appropriate.
More likely they are waiting to bust some loser with a joint and steal his car.

Leftwingers, with which Broward appears to be populated to the max, have great contempt for the military and law-enforcement - they really believe that if you only talk nicely and deal softly with even the worst of the worst everything will be fine and you will never have to resort to harsh persuasion and certainly not violence to keep the peace - it’s not surprising at all that in such a fantasyland when an incident requiring an extreme assertive and forceful response arose, the resources to meet it successfully were nowhere to be found.....
The truth is that disarming America is so vital to their socialist utopia that the Rats WANT helpless children murdered. If a few hundred innocents die as a result, they are just the collateral damage that they are willing for you to pay the price. The few hundred who die will be nothing compared the millions that “disappear” to perfect their utopia.
So were the cops in Broward ordered not to follow training or did they just sleep through it?
I’ve seen otherwise. It may be true in large cities it ain’t necessarily true in smaller towns
