Chevy Chase was living out a scenario right out of a National Lampoon flick.
The actor claims he was attacked in a road rage incident while traveling over the Tappan Zee Bridge in New York earlier this month when a passenger kicked him so hard he fell to the ground, TMZ reported.
Chase, 74, told police that a black pick-up truck cut him off on Feb. 9 and he thought the truck might have hit his car, so he flashed his lights until the driver pulled over.
He realized there was no damage, but still went up to the driver to speak to him about his reckless driving, according to the gossip site and thats when trouble started.
One of the passengers flipped off the actor and he fired back, reportedly saying, If I were a lot younger I'd bust your nose.
His threat led one of the passengers to get out of the car and kick him in the shoulder, causing him to hit the ground, according to police docs.
The driver claimed Chase threw a punch first and that the kicker was trying to block his fist with a foot, TMZ reports.
The person who kicked the actor was cited with second degree harassment, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
A witness also was involved in the report, noting he pulled over because he didnt want to witness the older man, Chase, get his a-- stomped.
Chase was a key cast member in the first reason of Saturday Night Live and went on to star in films like the National Lampoon franchise, Caddyshack, Fletch and countless others.

That was a joke on the news media.
Well, back in the cruising the boulevard days ............. The rule was: if you got out of your car, the fight had just begun.
Ha, he was the best pratfall artist in the business.
Another one of his Gerald Ford impersonations?
Ha, Chase has been long overdue for someone to kick his sorry ass.
Get off my phone, you creep!
Or also for that gomer ‘Land Shark’ doofus skit of his.
At 74 one should be pretty mellow about surviving for so long.
On the other hand, don’t mess with old guys....
Roll em up!

Memo to Chevy, under no circumstances do you approach Jimmy Kimmel’s Vehicle.
Now that is funny.
Where was that witness when Chevy REALLY needed him to save his ass during the Chevy Chase Roast?
Chevy needs to learn at his age he cannot continue to be the ass he always has been.
I thought the naming after Mario was deemed illegal and NYS had to take down millions of dollars worth of signs.
I swear I thought he had advanced Alzheimers the way he behaved at that SNL reunion.
They actually have 4 lanes in each direction crammed onto what will eventually be the westbound span, while they finish the eastbound span. No shoulders. Makes for pretty close quarters for traffic.
How droll. So he sacrifices the memory and honor of his friend for the sake of a dig at Chevy Chase. Let this be a lesson to you.
Exactly what I was thinking ...to do it Anywhere, let alone in NY - on a bridge. Lucky he wasn't tossed over for a swim
Maybe that Hollywood 'special person' syndrome
When I was a kid I was scared of that bridge especially at night. It looked so high, I would ask my dad if we were going to have to drive over it. Fortunately we never did.
