One week after a mass shooter Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 people inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, Broward's top cop on Thursday revealed a stunning series of failures by the sheriffs department.
A school campus cop heard the gunfire, rushed to the building but never went inside instead waiting outside for another four agonizing minutes as Cruz continued the slaughter.

That’s a really important question. When was the video FIRST reviewed, and by whom? Who made the decision to keep it quiet, and why today, suddenly does the Sheriff decide to go public with a press conference?
Soldiers Creed
I am an American Soldier.
I am a warrior and a member of a team.
I serve the people of the United States, and live the Army Values.
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.
I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.
I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself.
I am an expert and I am a professional.
I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy, the enemies of the United States of America in close combat.
I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.
I am an American Soldier.

Asked these questions on the 17th ...... as a Freeper here said (IIRC) “if your armed and already in the line of fire your more likely to count on yourself than those hopefully responding from a position of safety” .....
I think it goes beyond not having a choice. If a teacher volunteers for this, it means they have made a commitment - well beyond getting a paycheck like the deputy gets - to defend their school and the kids that go there. They will have made their choice long before any shooting goes down.
My same thoughts in post #193
Code of Conduct
for
Members of the United States Armed Forces
I
I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
II
I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.
III
If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.
IV
If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way.
V
When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause.
VI
I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.
Before one gives him too much grief, do you think Hillary, Obama, James Comey, or Lois Lerner would have laid down their life for the country.
Why should we expect courageous behavior from the peons of government, when our leaders of government don’t.
Agree. In theory so did the cop. But if you are in the area when it starts, well, you have no option. That tends to steel your resolve. The cop had an option, and he chose not to engage.
BTW, how ya doing, bud?
I’m good dirt, wife had cancer and that has been some trouble, but we’re gettin’ along.
I understand you went to Texas? Hope you are well and prosperous amigo!
Oh, nobody likes it, but it beats what we used to do with the 60mm mortars haha. We used to see who could land them the closest. We had to run to the bunker more than once.
Question: Why political party(ies) ran both Broward and Palm Beach County during the years in question, esp. the last 2-3?
Then start asking questions of their whole governance attitudes and policies towards the mentally ill, etc.
Sorry to hear about your wife, glad you’re getting through it. Yeah, I’m back in Texas after a 30 year detour mostly through PA with a fine 2 year stint in Colorado. I must admit, now that I’m older, I like the weather better here overall.
The cop was there for a paycheck. Any teacher that volunteers for CCW will be there for something much more. And I do agree, if stuff goes down, there will also be the instinct for self-preservation as well, since they are already in the school and not deciding whether to go in.
LOL We’re at 10K ft near Brekenridge so I get that about the weather. Maybe we’ll move to warmer climes one day.
You be good!
Could work eventually possibly - but Parkland did have a Junior ROTC program apparently which didn’t even allow actual rifles or pistols on campus - they’d have to do away with the “Gun Free Zone” business for more than just armed teachers or guards before shooting clubs would be viable again, which might be a real stretch at places like Parkland.....
At least he made it home safe... that’s the mission now.
Probably some leftist will say “he did what he was supposed to do - shelter in place. The answer is not more guns. yada^3”
Well as soon as you invent a time machine to send us all back to the 50’s all of our problems will be solved!
Leftists just need to buy their kidz trucks...
