One week after a mass shooter Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 people inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, Broward's top cop on Thursday revealed a stunning series of failures by the sheriffs department.
A school campus cop heard the gunfire, rushed to the building but never went inside instead waiting outside for another four agonizing minutes as Cruz continued the slaughter.

If you knew anything about the laws of physics you’d know that a bullet fired vertically, or near vertically, will be spent and harmless by the time it returns to earth. Parasitic drag will slow it down to terminal velocity on the way back down.
He will live with that decision the rest of his life.
“Why did he refuse to go inside if this is true?”
Probably “waiting for backup,” or some convenient excuse.
His picture should be shown.
Whatever you say. We need to end this exchange before I say the wrong thing to you. ‘Bye.
“Its hard to be a good cop now days.”
If you swear fealty to your community, you’ll be a good cop everyday. That’s been the code of honor for watchmen for centuries.
The community that wants to put every cop who uses his gun on trial for using his gun?
It's all part of the problem.
“His annual salary in 2016 was $75,673.72, according to sheriffs office records, but he made $101,013 that year with overtime and other compensation.”...for standing around eating donuts...& the kids wanna blame Trump who works for NO salary...
“He had the gun but was not a good guy. “
Let us know as soon as you’re willing to die taking on an AR-15 with a 9mm pistol.
I’m sure there’s a bunch like you, just itching to die so they will not have waited.
I’m a pretty brave assh*le, but I question whether I would have made THAT move. It is almost certain suicide...only blind luck allowing survival.

Then I hope you never take a job where it’s expected.
9mm vs Ar-15
Suicide.
But at least you would have died valiantly.
Certainly dead, nevertheless.
Last time I saw that, Gunz were really not a big problem in skoolz.
YMMV.
Thanks for the memories...
The perp was shooting into classrooms. The deputy could have moved forward while he was doing such. Also, recall the Capitol Police didn’t flinch when the took on the Scalise shooter who had a rifle - with handguns.
My issue with this actions is he wasnt a civilian with a CCW, he was a sworn LEO who should have responded. It was his job.
“Then I hope you never take a job where its expected.”
The US Army would not expect that in a combat zone.
A single soldier with a 9mm against another single soldier with an AR-15 or AK-47...to defend children.
The Army would tell him to save himself.
He retired while on active duty...Was looking forward or spend his 33+ years of pension benefits until that day. When the moment of truth came, he chose the path of least and most dishonorable resistance.
I bet up to the day he was assigned that duty he shoved his badge in everyone’s faces because he was only in for the power trip and phony hero worship.
True dat.
All of the school employees need to know what the plan is ahead of time. There is no time to process what you want/need to do without prior thinking/planning.
Unfortunately schools have become targets. If you want to stay, have a plan.
People need to re-study Beslan.
