The View's Joy Behar is on the defensive after ABC News was inundated with thousands of complaints when her show mocked Vice President Mike Pences Christianity.
Tuesday, February 13, Joy Behar mocked the Vice Presidents faith on national television, calling it mental illness to listen to the Lord. The next day a somber Pence responded that such an attack on Christian prayer was just wrong.
A fervor ensued. The 75-year-old Behar is now back-peddling on her comment, calling it a joke.
Im going to put the question to you, Whoopi Goldberg forewarned Behar on Thursdays episode of The View. Do you think Christians are mentally ill?
Well, I mean, that would make me mentally ill since Im a Christian myself, Behar replied. Of course not. Of course not.
I dont mean to offend people but apparently I keep doing it, she said.
It was a joke. Comedians are in danger these days, she added.
Goldberg went on to defend The Views openness to all viewpoints.
The idea that this show is intolerant of other peoples religious beliefs I find a little hard, she said.
Following Goldbergs lead, Behar said: Im a Christian I give money to the Church, she added, You know, I actually help Christians with my pocketbook. Im not insulting Christians.
After Behar insulted Pense and his Christian faith ABC News was flooded with 25,363 complaint calls as of Monday morning.
Rev. Franklin Graham of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said Behar's comments should both alarm and offend citizens.
"Whether you are a Catholic, whether you are a Protestant, Baptist, Evangelical, Pentecostal --whatever you may be, this should scare the socks off of you," he told Todd Starnes.
The evangelist posted on Facebook a defense of Christianitys unique two-way prayer, quoting Jesus Own words, My sheep hear My voice.
Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center (MRC) tweeted that Behars statement was unacceptable and insulting to all Christians.
Don't let ABC get away with this, the media bias whistleblower organization emailed its supporters. We need to stand up against these bullies and bigots and let them know that we will not stand for such disgraceful and prejudiced behavior.
Bozell posted a letter to ABC News and advertisers on The View demanding an apology for anti-Christian remarks and he encouraged others to follow suit. Religious bigotry and hypocrisy cannot and will not be tolerated, the MRC email stated.
Urging supporters to call ABC News and share their outrage, Bozell wrote, If there are no on-air apologies after this deplorable episode, Christians will tune out ABC programming across the board. And we will do our best to encourage it.

I’m not surprised at what Behar said, but what is up with Franklin Graham? People have been insulting and mocking Christians for 2000 years and it is nothing to be scared of.
The way I know that my comments aren’t funny is that no one else is laughing
I think Franklin Graham has become a tad too political and that has dulled his effectiveness and limited his reach...
>>The way I know that my comments arent funny is that no one else is laughing<<
Liberal “comedians” have no such perception. Have you noticed they laugh so hard at their own “jokes” they could not possibly know if anyone else found it funny?
(Rhetorical question)
Thanks. Will call tomorrow during business hours.
She says she is a Christian, but what denomination?
I don’t believe that has ever been reported. Some yahoo liberal - I forget who it was - maybe Behar of The View called him autistic or handicapped, I really don’t remember. Could have been good old Rosie O’Donnell. I’m sure someone will tell me who it was if I don’t have it right...I think that remark was made about him very soon after the nomination. IMO, I think he’s probably very shy - like his mother and I don’t believe either one enjoys the camera on them..He was also very tired the night of the election when the results were announced around 2 AM....
Ahhh - here it is...My memory isn’t shot after all.

Glad to hear it.
ABC must be hard up to give this airheaded know-nothing Behar airtime to spout her hatred of Christians.
Rosie O’Donnell is no authority on autism. Her slander is vile and groundless. Melania threatened a law suit over this issue. Truth is Barron is a genius.
ABC must be hard up to give this airheaded know-nothing Behar airtime to spout her hatred of Christians.
><
I think Behar is a reflection of ABC. Kindred spirits.
Good point.
And your point is right on, too:
“ABC must be hard up to give this airheaded know-nothing Behar airtime to spout her hatred of Christians”.
Libs are getting worse.
You are right. Whether it is the truth or what’s funny, it is what they want it to be.
Love to see the airheads at View insult the Muslim religion, but they would never make that mistake knowing they may find themselves beheaded.
There’s always a double standard at Disney.
Thank God i dont watch ota tv anymore.
Kodi.
That’s for sure. They know they can say anything against Christians and not have to worry about being physically attacked.
So they continue to attack Christians and leave the Muslims, who are guilty of such things, alone. It’s infuriating.
I guess that means an awful lot of us will have to turn in our guns.
But not the Muslims. There is NO evidence of any mental illness there. Being blessed by Allah to murder infidels is simply normal.
bump
!!!!????? That is just Rosie O’Donnell crap. No FReeper should be circulating that bilgewater. That is just one of the things Rosie made up.
