The View's Joy Behar is on the defensive after ABC News was inundated with thousands of complaints when her show mocked Vice President Mike Pences Christianity.
Tuesday, February 13, Joy Behar mocked the Vice Presidents faith on national television, calling it mental illness to listen to the Lord. The next day a somber Pence responded that such an attack on Christian prayer was just wrong.
A fervor ensued. The 75-year-old Behar is now back-peddling on her comment, calling it a joke.
Im going to put the question to you, Whoopi Goldberg forewarned Behar on Thursdays episode of The View. Do you think Christians are mentally ill?
Well, I mean, that would make me mentally ill since Im a Christian myself, Behar replied. Of course not. Of course not.
I dont mean to offend people but apparently I keep doing it, she said.
It was a joke. Comedians are in danger these days, she added.
Goldberg went on to defend The Views openness to all viewpoints.
The idea that this show is intolerant of other peoples religious beliefs I find a little hard, she said.
Following Goldbergs lead, Behar said: Im a Christian I give money to the Church, she added, You know, I actually help Christians with my pocketbook. Im not insulting Christians.
After Behar insulted Pense and his Christian faith ABC News was flooded with 25,363 complaint calls as of Monday morning.
Rev. Franklin Graham of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association said Behar's comments should both alarm and offend citizens.
"Whether you are a Catholic, whether you are a Protestant, Baptist, Evangelical, Pentecostal --whatever you may be, this should scare the socks off of you," he told Todd Starnes.
The evangelist posted on Facebook a defense of Christianitys unique two-way prayer, quoting Jesus Own words, My sheep hear My voice.
Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center (MRC) tweeted that Behars statement was unacceptable and insulting to all Christians.
Don't let ABC get away with this, the media bias whistleblower organization emailed its supporters. We need to stand up against these bullies and bigots and let them know that we will not stand for such disgraceful and prejudiced behavior.
Bozell posted a letter to ABC News and advertisers on The View demanding an apology for anti-Christian remarks and he encouraged others to follow suit. Religious bigotry and hypocrisy cannot and will not be tolerated, the MRC email stated.
Urging supporters to call ABC News and share their outrage, Bozell wrote, If there are no on-air apologies after this deplorable episode, Christians will tune out ABC programming across the board. And we will do our best to encourage it.

Everybody is a victim these days...
>>It was a joke. Comedians are in danger these days, <<
The ONE group not in danger these days are comedians. They can joke about the President, his family (including his special needs son), invent scenarios that would be considered slander in any other forum and flat-out lie.
All with NO repercussions, except an occassional “oops — I went a little too far.”
The only “comedian” that suffered any blowback was kathy griffin who is as funny as a canker sore (a trait she shares with bahar).

25,000 is a tenth of the number of complaints that should have melted down their switchboards and servers.
There is a long menu tree. I left a message, but I am not sure if I hit the correct pigeon hole.
It’s such a hot topic......chances are good, the message will be passed along to the right dept.
When I grew up comedians had to be funny. Now it’s not even a secondary requirement. As with many things these days, talent isn’t needed.
She really thinks that giving money to a church makes her a Christian?
how in the Frick is she 75? dang! she’s had some work done.
“Comedians are in danger these days.”
In danger of what? The Obama years were the worst thing that ever happened to comedy. Comedians weren’t allowed to make fun of Obama at all lest they be called racist. Under Clinton they were able to have some fun even under the PC umbrella. Just thinking back to the President Bush era should have had comedians desperately wanting President Trump to win.
Behar needs rehab.
>>Comedians werent allowed to make fun of Obama at all lest they be called racist. <<
So freaking true.
The comedy people are UNSHACKLED now after 8 years of self-imposed demurement.
“”She really thinks that giving money to a church makes her a Christian?””
Apparently so and she doesn’t even realize how stupid that makes her. I’ll bet that she truly doesn’t see any other requirement to being a Christian than giving money to a church.
“”They can joke about the President, his family (including his special needs son””
What “special needs son”?
>>What special needs son?<<
Barron.
Am I wrong? If I am then please tell me so. Seriously.
Barron has a sort of mild autism from what I know.
And please just answer and let us not redirect the thread.

I went to see Gallagher about 25 years ago. All he did was preach and bitch just like any liberal doosh. Never went to a “comedy show” again.
I see all these comedian specials on Netflix now. Same thing. Disguise liberal dooshery as comedy.
They remind me of Farva’s shenanigans;
