Trump: "possibility of giving concealed guns to gun adept teachers w/ military or special training"
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump ^ | 2/22/18 | Donald Trump

Posted on 02/22/2018 7:18:45 AM PST by Jim W N

I never said ‘give teachers guns’ like was stated on Fake News @CNN & @NBC. What I said was to look at the possibility of giving “concealed guns to gun adept teachers with military or special training experience - only the best. 20% of immediately fire back if a savage sicko came to a school with bad intentions. Highly trained teachers would also serve as a deterrent to the cowards that do this. Far more assets at much less cost than guards. A ‘gun free’ school is a magnet for bad people. ATTACKS WOULD END!

History shows that a school shooting lasts, on average, 3 minutes. It takes police & first responders approximately 5 to 8 minutes to get to site of crime. Highly trained, gun adept, teachers/coaches would solve the problem instantly, before police arrive. GREAT DETERRENT!

If a potential ‘sicko shooter’ knows that a school has a large number of very weapons talented teachers (and others) who will be instantly shooting, the sicko will NEVER attack that school. Cowards won’t go there...problem solved. Must be offensive, defense alone won’t work!

I will be strongly pushing Comprehensive Background Checks with an emphasis on Mental Health. Raise age to 21 and end sale of Bump Stocks! Congress is in a mood to finally do something on this issue - I hope!

What many people don’t understand, or don’t want to understand, is that Wayne, Chris and the folks who work so hard at the @NRA are Great People and Great American Patriots. They love our Country and will do the right thing. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

“possibility of giving concealed guns to gun adept teachers w/ military or special training”

I disagree with this. Teachers have enough problems teaching without having to worry about securing a gun in the classroom and worrying about liability. HIRE PROFESSIONALS for school security. Fund it from teacher’s paychecks.

well...the teacher’s unions spend PLENTY of money on politics...would seem to make sense to spend some of those dues to help fund security.

The NRA should offer free teacher gun education. Watch the left go insane.

Trump needs to quit trying to make democrats happy and flat out say any teacher that wants to carry a concealed weapon will be given the training to use that weapon. You can get the training from a NRA certified expert at any shooting range, a lot of times for nothing. It does not take a rocket scientist to shoot a handgun.

Well, we have to live under the Rule of Law of the Constitution, otherwise we have either tyranny (which we have now) or anarchy. Unjust laws should be resisted but the Constitution is very just and is a shining example of natural law (the intent of God’s laws reflected in man’s laws). It is the Supreme Law of the Land and is directly mainly at creating and delegating certain limited enumerated powers to the feds.

The Constitution is the most inspired political document maybe ever conceived and written. It is a true reflection of natural law and is not unjust. The required constitutional amendment to allow federal regulation of gun ownership and use would almost certainly never happen. Gun rights are squarely a states issues in the hands of the people of each state.

The issue in our country is mainly ENFORCING THE CONSTITUTION as written and originally understood and intended.

That ‘divorce’ clause would affect men more than women.

Mr LaPierre also voiced the NRA’s support for Mr Trump’s suggestion to arm teachers.

He said the NRA would help any US school with their safety and security, free of charge. He added that as “gun-free zones”, schools are easy targets for shooters, suggesting that they would be better equipped if teachers were armed.

“Evil walks among us and God help us if we don’t harden our schools and protect our kids,” Mr LaPierre said.

They’re going to claim returning veterans are more dangerous than terrorists and disturbed teens.

"How ‘bout following the 2nd and those that WANT to carry, and be responsible, can do so."

And how do we determine who is responsible? Sorry, but in today's society (which has effectively broken down in many areas) we would have to have training and mental examinations.

Just in the news today, one of the school principles in our area has come out with an announcement that he is questioning and is a transgender. His new name is Shannon and to please refer to him as a him or her. Do you want that school administrator carrying if he can't even figure out whether he's a dude or not?

Even besides that, people in the teaching community go through life crisis just like anyone else. They go through clinical depression and terrible divorces where they are not always in a right place mentally to be entrusted with a weapon. It's one thing if you are out in society and this happens, it's another thing to be going through this and have a classroom of kids under your control.

In a perfect world, you're right, but we don't live in a perfect world and so there has to be checks on this in regards to school.

Not sure if you know the story of Charles Whitman the texas university shooter who killed 17 in 1966. He was a model citizen who went beserk. However, there were multiple signs and he went to a shrink and was on medication at one point. They did an autopsy on him and found they had a tumor pushing on his brain and it probably affected his judgement and thinking. Stuff happens and you have to have safeguards.

When I use the case of divorce, I'm talking about a bitter divorce with PFAs involved and violence. Again, you could go back yearly and if things are better the next year, you get to carry in school again. Anyways, I'm just spitballing here...

Since most school shootings are committed by disgruntled/ unstable students it would make (common) sense to hold these students accountable by restricting their ability to purchase a weapon. Any new gun control law should be directed at the individual rather than putting restrictions on law abiding citizens.

The individual here is anyone under the age of 18, which would assume that he/she is attending school. Although, it would not be limited to just those attending school, but probably more so to one being expelled from or has quit school on their own accord.

The idea is to hold them responsible for certain behaviors or criminal acts, regardless if they are charged with a crime or not; especially, if the behavior occurs while attending school. The behaviors could include, although not all inclusive, any violence or assaulting behaviors, destruction of property, truancy, or behaviors related to disorderly conduct. Any mental health concerns would need further definition.

The consequence, among other things, would include putting age restrictions in place to purchase a weapon. This could be implemented by way of a motion to a court seeking a gun restraining order. The person would at some point could have this order quashed – or extended - by a judge based on accumulating accomplishments.

I’m also a firm believer of hiring trained individuals to protect the students.

Israel fixed the school shooter problem after the first incident. PDJT should contract with TPTB in Israel to institute a program, and train school administrators, in America.

I agree with you about the age limit. If an individual passes a background check, the fact that he is 18 should not disqualify him.

Only the school administration and local police would know the identities of teachers who are authorized to conceal carry.

Until some teacher accidentally 'prints', and the students realize they're armed.

Concealment is an imperfect practice, at best. Despite your best efforts, someone's eventually going to notice you're carrying.

Finger print lockers in all classrooms, those who train keep their weapons handy there for quick access. Make tall lockers as you would want scoped rifles to be in the mix.

It is done in Israel.

I just learned that yesterday. I wonder if the Israeli teachers carry open or concealed?

True, but we are talking about teenagers. Most of them are more concerned with their iphone than what their teacher is doing. Overall, I think we should try to keep it a secret who is carrying concealed as much as possible, don't let a potential shooter know any intel...

"A ‘gun free’ school is a magnet for bad people. ATTACKS WOULD END!"

The reason the dimocraps don't want armed guards in the schools is this... It would completely mess up their drug business.. The dimocraps depend on the addiction of as many young folk as possible because that's their future voting base... And of course, the billions up on billions of dollars are nice as well. It's their idea of a great economy... That's also the reason they don't want the wall on the Mexican border...

Sure...you might think that sounds absurd, but think about it... In all the major city's where crime, drugs and mayhem run rampant, those places are the democratic strong holds.... I'm I wrong about that.??

The democrats are no longer just our goofy neighbor or messed up fishing buddy.. I'm convinced that they have become down right dangerous to our country and our way of life... And their going after our kids just as hard as they can.!! Wasn't it President Reagan that said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction". ??

Well that's my opinion...such as it is.....
