Joe Scarborough often touts his deep roots in the gun culture, growing up in the South. But either he never knew as much about guns as he’s claimed, or his passion for gun control has made him forget or ignore what he once knew.
On today’s Morning Joe, Scarborough repeatedly claimed that the AR-15, used in Parkland and in other mass shootings, is “more lethal” than the M-16. H/t FReeper SnuffaBolshevik.

And everyone knows .223 is much worse than 5.56mm!
How many of those “AR-15’s” were actually AR-15’s. Sure .223 makes most of the “black rifles” pretty similar. Physics is not related to barrel color, smile.
I thought the talking head thought all rifles were AK-47’s. Headshake.

All M16 rifles had at least a 3-position selector switch, Safe-Fire-Auto. It was semi-automatic on Fire and fully automatic on Auto.
Some few models later added “Burst” which fired a 3-round burst with every trigger pulls. Never widely adopted.
Scarborough stands firm against gun violence.
In other news, no guns were used in the killing of Lori Klausutis.
Really? I doubt that either of us has ever seen "Most" of the millions(?) of AR15s in America ... that's a lot of rifles ... but most that I have seen are marked for 5.56 or 5.56/.223. One of mine is marked .223 WYLDE (a chamber that's designed to work well with both NATO and SAAMI spec ammunition). I don't recall ever seeing an AR15 marked .223 Remington only.
Hey, we should go with it. If he is correct there is no reason we should not be allowed to have an m16...

Agreed. For years, I would discourage people from posting these allegations unless they had hard evidence to back it up.
But it’s become such an ingrained thing here that I can’t sweep back the ocean with a broom. I sent the link to the reader asking for the background not because I endorse the notion that Joe was responsible, but just to put him in the loop as to what people are referring to.

That is why the modern M16 doesn’t do full “rock-n-roll”... it does a 3 round burst.
Spray n pray is less lethal than aimed fire.
Joe’s obviously stronger than he looks, since he apparently beat Klausutis with his own desk.
Joe needs smaller words. An M-16 can go “pew”, or “pew-pew-pew” or “pewpewpewpewpew....”, whereas an AR-15 can only go “pew”. Perhaps Joe and Mika can absorb that explanation.
I'm sure we'll eventually find out that he's donating money to Planned Parenthood.
