University of Miami basketball coach Jim Larranaga took the opportunity after Saturday's 62-55 loss to Syracuse to let the world know his views on gun control in the wake of the Stoneman Douglas High massacre.
"I think we have to do something about our gun laws," Larranaga said. "We're not the Wild, Wild West where everybody should carry a gun. There needs to be accountability and responsibility for people in charge of selling guns and buying guns."

Thanks..... should be posted “above the fold” on every conservative web sight!
Thanks, and you too DuncanWaring, graphic should be posted on every conservative website, ABOVE THE FOLD.
when you hear someone say; we have to do something etc....
that means they don’t have a clue about solving the “proplem”. I know what to do about gun shooting, the problem is most americans don’t want to do them. Removing the guns has not kept other countries from mass gun shootings. So that wont work.
very impressive flow chart
Why is it that coaches at the collegiate and professional levels are disproportionately liberal Bolsheviks. Is it a required resume item?
All kudos go to him - I'm just the promoter (egged on by Yaelle).
Little house on the prairie was a fairly accurate portrayal of the actual Wild West. Reporters created the myth of the violent west.
Ranchers ranched, farmers farmed and kids went to school.
Absolutely!
Public Schools are Dangerous to
Body and Souls.
“We’re not the Wild Wild West...”
Well, he’s right. And, the “Wild Wild West” of which he speaks, was a Hollywood creation, with little or no reflection of reality, of how things were in 19th century America.
In those days, it wasn’t a question of whether someone “should” carry a firearm was it?
Before wasting anymore time dissecting this nonsense, why are listening to a Basketball coach about public policy? The guy may well be a functioning idiot. Stick to coaching, coach. Thanks.
Frontier violence at least in terms gunplay over cards, land, women (all standard Hollywood themes!) was almost completey a Hollywood creation.
I think they do it to show their spoiled charges that they’re “down wit da struggle.” Basically they’re afraid of the guys they coach, not so much physically, but for their (the coaches’) jobs.
I agree, we should rescind about 19,990 of the 20,000 Gun Laws currently on the Books.
It’s that Charlottesville University of Virginia background peeking through for mr Coach. And incapable of keeping it to himself.
Same uber-liberal background that makes those exposed to just 4 years of UV(a)become total leftie a-holes. For example, I submit to you the eldest son of NFL Hall-of-Famer Howie Long. Won’t appear at the White House with his TEAM when winning the superbowl (x2), and recently went off in a public way about Laura Ingraham LeBron comments, like anyone cares.
Virginia Tech continues to be THE University of VA when it comes to producing functioning humans that contribute to society instead of just sound off.
Because that would require direct action, and involves holding people - not just institutions - accountable.
Nobody is apparently held accountable for anything - particularly in government - anymore. It is truly jawdropping. 9/11/2001 was probably the first example in a big way.
I think the key tell, something I hadn’t been paying attention to - the people the government tends to put in charge of the investigation are the ones who should be investigated - they are the ones who should be answering the questions, not asking them.
On a smaller scale usually key screw ups - even if not strictly negligent - have historically been dealt with harshly. Failure to secure government issue firearms - say, like the Kate Steinle murder - heads would roll. Loss of job.
On the big scale - the OPM “hack” - or “Fast & Furious” or Felonia Von Pantsuit’s homebrew computer servers hosting SCIF data, satellite imagery and top-secret classified documents through unsecured networks, the list goes on. These are all clear black letter law evidence of negligence at minimum, treason and sedition or espionage at worst and nobody in a position to actually do something about it - seems to be particularly concerned. Never mind the fact that it is their duty and obligation.
Name of the game is to lie, dissemble, distract, and divert attention from where it belongs, and ensure “national security”. What that means isn’t what you think it means. Not even close.
Lets quit violating people’s 2nd amendment rights.
Opinions are like A**holes, everyone has one, but not every A**hole needs to voice their opinion to the world.
Common ground= do what I say and shut up.
Liberalise translated.
CC
“Liberalese” effing autocorrect!

Are these idiots BRAIN-DEAD?
There are TOO MANY laws already that are NOT enforced.
In this situation it's the FAILED FOLLOW THROUGH by the FBI, the PARKLAND SCHOOL BOARD who failed because they didn't follow up, as is the case of the school board's choice to NOT report student infractions.
They're on that MERRY-GO-ROUND ride.. Give 'em another law until we have the NEXT shooting, at which time they'll be clamoring for yet ANOTHER LAW.
"Welcome my friends to the show that never ends".. LAWS DO NOT STOP the LAWLESS or the INSANE .
Yada, yada, yada.
