Brings rules for rifle sales in line with handguns, which already requires minimum 21 years of age
Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today announced she will introduce legislation to raise the age requirement for purchasing rifles from gun dealers, including assault weapons like the AR-15, to 21 years.
“Under current law, licensed gun dealers cannot sell a handgun to anyone under 21, but they are allowed to sell assault rifles like the AR-15 to anyone over 18. This policy is dangerous and makes absolutely no sense.
“I plan to introduce a bill to require all firearms purchases from gun dealers be restricted to individuals who are at least 21 years old. If you can’t buy a handgun or a bottle of beer, you shouldn’t be able to buy an AR-15.
“This is common sense and I hope my Republican colleagues will join me in this effort.”

I don't know if they've changed it, but I joined on my 17th birthday, but didn't get sent to Vietnam till 6 weeks after my 18th birthday. Don't know if they send under 18 yr olds to combat theatres.
In that case, I propose all current and would be politicians undergo psych evals before being allowed to run for or take office.
I perhaps should have indicated the training in the use of firearms as a certification for fitness, and not as a license. Not all people will absorb the principles of gun usage equally well, and those who fail the minimum criteria for gun ownership or use should properly be limited in the right to acquire or use said sidearm.
With rights come responsibility. And responsible behavior is what is lacking here.
Universal Military Training, for both males and females, would be perhaps more fitting. Much like the program in Switzerland, except extended to BOTH genders.
Well okay if they are too young to own a gun as guaranteed by the constitution then they are not adults and therefore they are too young to vote.
Raise the voting age to 21 as well and we can talk

There should be no more requirements to exercise your 2nd amendment rights than there are for any of the other rights, in other words, zero.
Nuclear power plants and M-14s are lemons and oranges. A bunch of 18-19 year olds being “supervised” by a 21 year old NCO isn’t exactly adult supervision. So when or if they make it back from Afghanistan they should be prohibited from buying a semi auto AR? Yeh uh no! :-)

The DUTY to exercise rights in a responsible manner was not addressed in your reply.
Like, for example, free speech as addressed in the First Amendment. Anyone is always free to say just about anything they may want to, but this in no way relieves them of the RESPONSIBILITY for the consequences of that freedom of speech.
Shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater may well lead to consequences that vastly compound the effects of the presence of that fire, even if one actually exists.
Freedom without responsibility is a curse.
Any sickening RINO enemy of the Constitution that votes for this should be TARGETED in the next available primary. No more infringements of the right to keep and bear arms. NO MORE!
