I know a farmer in western NY who stopped growing beans, potatoes, tomatos etc...bought 1000's of acres additional land and raised only corn for ethanol....especially because the plant was nearby.

So we lose twice with this farmer thanks to the government.

Get rid of ALL the subsidies on ethanol and see what happens.

One of my local farmers says that these farmers also play the market at the same time.

Repeal the mandatory addition of ethanol into gasoline and let it be a free-market choice. If a gas station wants to sell ethanol-laced gasoline-fine. If not-also fine. Sustain ethanol-lace gasoline at FREE market levels.

With the US awash in hydrocarbons and grounded in coal deposits it is hard to justify turning food into fuel. It would seem that the right could ally with the greenies on this given the environmental havoc created from the net increase in energy consumption and pollution required to produce ethanol. I have to drive 25 miles to the nearest gas station that sells ethanol-free gas. So I fill up my car and I take along two gas cans for my motorcycle. It is carbureted not fuel injected so it runs really crappy on ethanol contaminated gasoline as well as the problem of the ethanol wrecking the carburetor.

I now pay around 15% more to use non-oxi gas in my non-auto vehicles and power tools. Pulled apart and cleaned or replaced several carbs before doing so. BS!
