The Senate on Thursday rejected immigration legislation crafted by centrists in both parties after President Trump threatened to veto the bill if it made it to his desk.
In a 54-45 vote, the Senate failed to advance the legislation from eight Republican, seven Democratic and one Independent senators. It needed 60 votes to overcome a procedural hurdle.

“I dont GAS if it delays whitey from becoming a minority.”
That’s a feature, not a bug. It is the exact opposite of what the Dems have been doing since 1965, in an attempt to replace the electorate that was consistently rejecting them...so turnabout is fair play (plus protecting those who actually make this country work).
Just proves the GOP is not serious about the wall or reform.
A pol being interviewed on FBN said that all the Representatives left the session after the vote and were headed to the airport for the weekend. Melissa Francis asked, “The weekend? Do they know it’s Thursday?” I guess it’s not fun to work a five-day week or something. She was pretty angry.
Any Senate bill would let the scofflaws in zero-dollar free since revenue bills must originate in the House.
House and senate leaders have cried and moaned in the past, whining how President Trump hasn’t made “clear” his position.
I’m nowhere near swamp, dc, or even a politician. But President Trump’s goals seems clear enough: build the wall, end lottery visa, end chain migration, mandatory e-verify, and swift deportation(s).
Schummer gets another Foghorn Leghorn paddling.
You think there’s an uproar over the deep state now, if Mittens becomes the Seanate leader, all hell will break loose!
I don’t think there is going to be any meaningful legislation passed until after the 2018 mid-terms. The Dems don’t want to give Trump any victories and the stupid Senate republicans refuse to get rid of that ridiculous 60 vote rule. They all might as well go home until after November.
Who were the five Replicrats? Let me guess first: Gramnesty, Flake, ???
“Centrist my ass..”
It was Centrist...
If you consider the center to be somewhere left of the Planet mars.
That bill was GARBAGE!
Watching the US Senate in session could take the place of these for a lot of people:
The reason to pass a law is to end chain migration & the visa lottery. Those things are key. Our immigration system is broken as long as those programs exist.
When we have a couple more Trump nominated Supreme Court Justices we can work on anchor babies.
Dems are already using the judges to stop or delay Trump’s plans.
I actually thought Trump’s proposal (which I do support) was centrist. This proposal was B.S.
Thank you, my president!
