Watergate reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein say President Trump could be on the path to his own "Saturday Night Massacre," citing reports that he already wants to fire the special counsel probing his administration and campaign.

"We’re here again. A powerful and determined president is squaring off against an independent investigator operating inside the Justice Department," Woodward and Bernstein wrote in The Washington Post, saying the situations have become "eerily similar.

Another assassinated President doesn’t end well either.

You have hope for the republic?

I hope it falls apart sooner rather than later. The thought of being a refugee with all my possessions in a wheel barrow makes my knees hurt now. Ten years from now, I’ll be in the back seat.

And I have yet to understand why so many here think that a large government organization is on “our” side.

You admit that the entire US feral government is the enemy, yet you believe that we can't treat them as such.

Puzzling.

“Woodward and Bernstein: Trump could be headed for his Saturday Night Massacre”

or not.

but BOY would they LOVE for that to happen!

Trump is WAY to smart to do something like that, particularly since there is no there there concerning “russian collusion” and therefore no need to fire anyone unless of course the investigators themselves are charged with criminal acts. The left is desperate for such firings since their “russian collusion” narrative has collapsed in the face of zero evidence ...

Felt was also a leaker and had his nose out of joint because he was passed over by Nixon to be Director of the FBI.

Trump doesn't need to fire Mueller.

The Mueller investigation is on life support.

Both Flynn and Papadopolous have had their sentencing hearings postponed until spring.

There's no collusion, no underlying crime, and no obstruction.

Trump asking Comey if he could be “loyal” takes on a different meaning when we now know that the FBI had waged a corrupt and partisan counterespionage investigation against him.

As usual, liberals are getting their knickers in a twist over the possibility that Trump will do something that will allow them to screech about “Russia!” again.

They will be bitterly disappointed.

Some were out to get him long before Watergate so he had his reasons

One reason was his prosecution of Alger Hiss....they hated him for that.

And you know this, how? I’m not saying I totally disagree, but want to know why you’re so convinced.

Q is wrong. Mueller and Rosenstein are not working for Trump.

And you know this, how? I’m not saying I totally disagree, but want to know why you’re so convinced.

Because of many things that I've seen over the last year and even longer. I'll give you three reasons for both, but there's a lot more.

Rosenstein.

Mueller.

Priestep may be playing Felt’s role, in reverse, going to the Congress/Congressional intel committee.

Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein don’t know what the hell they’re talking about.

There is NO constitutional justification for a “special prosecutor”.
//////////////////////////

The democrat/corporate media so want Trump to fire these guys. They would then report that Trump needs to be impeached for obstruction of justice. The fact that a special prosecutor was appointed to investigate democrat and media allegations without a crime actually being committed escapes these people. they keep living in a watergate vortex but the obvious missing ingredient is an actual crime being committed. Where is the crime they are investigating and how does that crime involve Trump or his campaign staff. This is absurd.
Two facts expose this absurdity: 1- Mueller refuses to sentence Flynn for a process crime he already pled guilty to because he knows Flynn’s lawyers would litigate the fact that all evidence on Flynn came from an illegally obtained FISA warrant. 2- Trump was requested to testify before Mueller and Trumps lawyers refused saying the investigation doesn’t rise to the level of seriousness to require the President to meet with Mueller. They politely asked Mueller to indicate the criminal act that he was requesting testimony about. To date, Mueller has not responded.
The Mueller investigation is effectively dead and buried and Trump just needs to let him drift into irrelevancy as more and more actual crimes come to light and begin to be investigated. Mueller is implicated in much of this and the longer he operates his clown show the more of an embarrassment he will become.

I’m curious...have these two men EVER reported on what Hillary did to Nixon? She should have lost her law license for that, at least.
//////////////////

Good point. Hillary was actually removed from the watergate committee for unethical conduct. These guys are such shills. If the media was honest and competent somebody would ask Woody and Bernie this Question: Your watergate reportage was triggered by an actual crime committed by G. Gordon Liddy where he broke into a democrat campaign office, was arrested and charged and eventually found guilty. A special prosecutor was appointed to find out who authorized this illegal act. Please tell us what crime has been committed in this instance and who has been arrested for that crime that resulted in a special council being appointed?
