An Israeli F-16 fighter jet has crashed after being hit by Syrian air defences during an offensive in Syria, the Israeli military says.
The two pilots parachuted to safety before the crash in northern Israel. It is believed to be the first time Israel has lost a jet in the Syrian conflict.
The plane was hit during air strikes in response to an Iranian drone launch into Israeli territory, Israel says. The drone was shot down. Israel later launched further strikes in Syria. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) say they hit aerial defence batteries and Iranian military sites in the latest strikes.

Later development: Israel has called up its reserves and increased its presence on the Golan Heights, and the Russian Foreign Ministry has denounced the Israeli strike on the antiaircraft site and sided with Syria.

I don’t think Israel will fall for the “Drone Bait” again
F-16’s have both single seat and dual seat variants. Before my old unit converted to A-10’s, we had F-16 C’s and D’s. The D Model was a two-seater. They gave a lot of incentive rides to unit members!
Oh yes, Obama thinks he’s all cunning and crafty betraying Israel to do Mad Mo’s work.

Thxs, I know IDF loves the F15 however when I read the article and they had a pic of an F16 single seater, I wondered if the media made an error or simply identified the wrong plane.

Israel destroyed much of the facilities that were sending the drone and manufacturing armaments. I would say Israel won this one. It’s the Iranians who made the mistake.
The other side celebrates whether they win one or lose one. Most people don’t know the difference on their own, so they get away with that.
By the way, the drone was one of those that were reverse-engineered and copied from the U.S. drone that Iran shot down a few years ago. In fact the Israelis hesitated to destroy it at first, in case it was us!
Now Israel has the drone and will see how well the Iranians have done at copying someone else’s technology.
Sorry to “pile on!” I should have looked for other replies first. No more incentive rides with our A-10’s though, that’s for sure!
Just saw a video of it being demolished, so I guess it’s not going to reveal much.
