President Trump is not ready to approve the release of a Democratic memo meant to rebut a controversial document released by Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee last week, the White House announced.

White House counsel Don McGahn announced the decision in a letter to House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) on Friday.

"Although the President is inclined to declassify the February 5th Memorandum, because the Memorandum contains numerous properly classified and especially sensitive passages, he is unable to do so at this time," McGahn wrote.

I wish DJT would have released it. If the Ds want to give up the methods of our less than sterling intelligence agencies, so be it. The POTUS has the power to declassify and from what I’m learning about how recklessly classified material is distributed the more sunshine that can be focused on the Swamp the better.

Looks to me similar to the process that the Republican memo went through.

Schumer wrote that disingenuous tripe BEFORE the memo was composed.

It was designed to be unreleasable.

“The Democrats were hoping he would block it. And he did. “

Not the way I read it. Shifty Shitt has tried to lay a trap buy putting classified stuff in his memo, hoping Trump would redact it, giving him a place to say “see I told you so, the Republicans don’t want the truth to come out!” Trump will just sent it back to the full committee with his concerns outlined and force them to fix it and send it back to him for review.

I think I see his play. If they want it released, they will have to redact it, so they can’t complain about him redacting it and insinuate he is withholding information that would refute the Nunes memo.

He kicked it back to them.

I heard Adam Schiff was so depressed by this that he hanged himself.

Regrettably, it turned out to be a “fake noose” story.

But he didn’t block it. He sent it back to the Dems so THEY could remove sensitive material which they included in it.

In effect he told them I will ok release as soon as you send me something which does not violate our security protocol. He is giving them an opportunity to correct their work.

Call it what you want, he refused to release it. He approved the release of sensitive material in the Republican memo and refused to do the same in the Democrat memo. The Democrats are going to claim he's censoring the truth and trying to hide the real facts. They aren't going to change it because it serves their purposes more to have Trump suppress it.

Trump did redact it by telling the Democrats what he wanted removed. They're going to take that and run with it. I doubt that the memo will ever see the light of day because it serves the Democrats better to say Trump suppressed it.

it will take a few days for the Dems to get the revised document ready for a vote.

Another few days for the committee to vote on it.

Another 5 day period for Trump to approve

Another day or so to send it back to Congress for release.

By then the IG report will be out and the Democrat memo will be a non issue.

The sequence of disclosures was first to completely gut and discredit the Democrat Russian Collusion story and shit it to be what it is - an FBI/DOJ frame up of Donald Trump to remove him from office and appoint Hillary President

The next one was Uranium One to go on the offensive with an investigation of a Clinton/Obama crime that rises to the level treason but was obstructed by none other than Robert Mueller, James Comey and Rodney Rosenstein - amount others. .

No matter what President Trump does or says, the propaganda media is going to react negatively.

He knows this, IMO & as he has done repeatedly since he walked down the escalator to announce his candidacy he flips it on them & makes them look foolish while increasing his leverage in multiple ways.

My money is on President Trump. The media these days has been so discredited they are almost completely irrelevant.

Under advice of the DOJ and Intelligence personnel he refused to release it as is and rather than saying it will not be released PERIOD!! he instead sent it back with Dog and Intel folks suggestions for what needs to be removed. As it is the memo apparently contains info regarding sources and methods we use to gather Intel.

The Rep memo did nothing of the kind and the hysteria from the media about it’s release being catastrophic to America was ridiculous in the extreme.

The Dems can either change it or ask the full committee to approve it again as is and simply override the President’s suggestion of changes. They can release it or leak it as they so often do with Intel.

The president should not allow the release of sensitive information against advice of interested and knowledgeable person’s. To do so will give libs the club to beat him with because they will claim HE is responsible for it’s release and HE is the president and HE should have known better.

Trump did exactly the right thing and has made the Committee entirely responsible for the release of SENSITIVE info should they agree to it’s release.

Very often the right thing to do is not the most politically expedient thing to do.

Against the advice of the FBI and Justice Department he released the Nunes memo. You don't think that the Democrats aren't going to cry hypocisy and cover up? That's exactly what they wanted.

Geez,of course this is what they wanted. But these are the self same fools who cried the end of the world would be upon us if the NUNES memo was released. When it was released, when their attemp at scaring Trump into not releasing it failed, what did they then do? They did a 180 and claimed the memo was a big nothing DESPITE it being the same one they claimed would destroy the world.

They looked absolutely ridiculous and they know it. If they want their memo out unredacted then they and the Rep on the committee can easily do it by a simple vote. Then we all can see if any sources and methods are in the memo and if there are then it all comes down on the Dems and maybe one or two Republicans who would have to be included in the vote to release. The president is then covered and can simply say our Intel has been compromised by the irresponsible release of this information and that he is on the record for asking changes be made before it’s release.

Libs won’t gain traction with this because the Senate memo confirms what is in the NUNES memo and hysterical spinning by the libs becomes more obvious by the day.

As Hillary would say “what difference does it make”. They are going to leak it anyway.

I suspect President Trump considered this very turn of events before the rat counter memo was even conceived.

I do not see him as sufficiently senile as to be blindsided by the current turn of events.
