Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah told reporters on Air Force One Monday that President Trump's attorneys have already approved the idea of appointing a second special counsel to investigate the FBI and Justice Department's actions during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to White House pool reports.
Shah also said that the White House will approach further memos, including the one created by Democrats, in the same way they handled the memo authored by Devin Nunes: "Which is to allow for a legal review, national security review led by the White House Counsels Office, and then within five days the president will make a decision about declassifying it," said Shah.
The congressional election of 2018will hinge on Sessions. If doesnt wake up soon and the right thing our candidates have an uphill battle. As of today he is still dead or MIA. So far what a bad choice he could go down as the slowest moving AG. Or he is afraid of Hillary. Jeff we hardly know you.
Past results are no guarantee of future oerformance.
What I know at present, is that Gowdy is out there singing Mueller's praises.
You're cool with that?
There are many reasons why someone says what they do and in politics its tongue in cheek. I thought I heard around here reason our President hasnt overturned DACA as he was supposed to, or breaking bread with democrats on child care credits, or liberal infrastructure spending etc. all are deals this we can agree however theres a long game afoot. Maybe its to get a judgeship. Maybe its to appear non partisan to be granted special council. Or just maybe its to receive cabinet appointment or better yet Atty Gen.
We grant every benefit of every doubt to our President then commence to ripping my apart someone that knows and can quote law damn near better than any human alive.
ONLY if Guiliani’s firm ... otherwise there is no safe harbor to obtain the right counsel ...
If heads are not going to roll, don’t waste the money.
Local a.m. radio guys last week were arguing about Sessions. The pro-Sessions guy argued that he didn’t think Trump was either stupid enough or tolerant enough , to allow Sessions to do nothing about this. He felt wheels were spinning way behind the scenes while keeping the Rats (and us) in the dark and we just have to be patient. Hope he’s right.
So you disagree with the tactics, and therefore wave the white flag?
There is MUCH more afoot than any of us knows - as evidenced by the steady drip-drip of news that proves President Trump right each and every day.
Trump governs like a man with a plan - one that he hasn’t shared with much of anybody. Items on the fringe are being used to divide those on the right - but not by Trump. No, it is the media and the dems and a few (perhaps understated) GOPe cucks.
To not just depose but to destroy the deep state cabal is painstaking work - because the wife of Caesar must be above reproach, if she is to arrest, convict, and incarcerate those that pretend to the throne. (I am not speaking about Sessions - I am talking about Trump, et al., which may include Sessions if he is indeed working quietly, behind the scenes, like an AG is SUPPOSED to.)
This President has done more in one year to tear down the federal leviathan than has been done since Reagan, and you are ready to capitulate.
Wow.
Sessions can’t do it. He’s a little weasel and he will do nothing.
Sure, Trump can fire Sessions and appoint another AG. How long would that take? We would have a firestorm and it would suck out of all the oxygen out if the room. We will hear nothing but comparisons to Saturday night massacre Nixon firing special counsel Cox and AG Richardson quitting.
If Trump can appoint another special counsel, we might get some results.
Plus another one to address every corrupt thing that the Clintons have ever done.
Sessions recused himself from doing his job.
You might want to look up the phrase, 'tongue in cheek'. It means, something said in jest.
Gowdy is not praising Mueller in jest, I assure you. What he IS doing, is turning off a lot of conservatives, including me.
Given that he strongly supports the chief witch hunter, his command of the law means next to nothing.
Lighten up Francis. Rome wasnt built in a day, nor was it destroyed in a day.
Needs to be a Democrat, just like Mueller was a GOP appointment. The problem is that most of the prominent ones served in the last two Democrat administrations, both of which will be under investigation.
Maybe a former US attorney from a conservative state.
I would take Rudy and EVEN fatso over sessions and gowdy.
They don’t deserve an upper case first letter.
I CANT BELIEVE some here have faith in either one of these worthless clods, and possibly worse.
I’m all in as long as this time we appoint one of OUR guys and not someone who was involved in creating this mess.
Best idea I have heard yet.
A: Im not aware. Ska-rew Kasuck.
I thought DACA falls on it's @$$ in March.
“.......Sessions refuses to do it.....Because of that the WH wants a Special Prosecutor.”
After a year, it should be obvious that Trump does NOT want his own cabinet appointees, or even his own party, spearheading his defense against political witch hunts.
They would immediately be discredited as partisan obstructionists. Trump is making the smart play by asking them to stand down.
Trump wants special prosecutors doing the investigations because they are seen by the public as being nonpartisan, and therefore only they can vindicate him.
Each time a member of his cabinet or a GOP committee chair appears to be in a position to derail Mueller’s investigation, they wind up saying something SUPPORTIVE instead. Why? Because Trump wants it that way.
I think it’s funny how many Trump supporters here on FR are confused by this. If there’s something Trump really wants Sessions to be doing, I guarantee Sessions is busy doing it. If Trump wanted Sessions, Trey Gowdy or any of these GOP committee chairs to try and derail Mueller’s investigation, I guarantee they would have done it by now.
The best way to get this witch hunt behind us is to let Mueller complete his investigation - come up empty-handed, and move on.
The best way to dig into this FBI scandal is to get bipartisan support to appoint a special investigator/prosecutor/whatever. If it’s not seen as “bipartisan” it will go nowhere - it will be dismissed as Republican’s out for revenge.
Jesus I hope so
