The story behind the kente cloth worn by Black members of Congress at Trump’s SOTU

Black members of Congress made sure they would be heard last night, even if President Donald Trump was doing all the talking.

Members of the CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) wore brightly colored yellow, green, black and red kente cloth accents to President Trump’s first State of the Union address, as a sign of defiance against his “sh*thole* comments about African and Caribbean countries.

“The whole idea was to show support for Africa, particularly after the President called Africa and Haiti s-holes,” said Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) in an exclusive interview with theGrio. “We thought it would be important for us to demonstrate our support in some way.”

Wouldn’t it have been nice if they had decided to show solidarity with AMERICA? These phonies remind me of the ‘Dreamers’ who protest, carrying the Mexican flag and giving the cameras the bird.

I guess I should have posted a (BARF ALERT) in the headline.

But seeing how this story was about the CBC and Mad Maxine - a barf alert would have been redundant.

Must've been a 'Whites Only' thing in force on the House floor, seeing as how all the CBC slaves were segregated in one area.

Their phony 'solidarity' is by turns hilarious and pathetic, along with those silly scarves, yo.
Where was it when the President mentioned the historically high black employment rate, and none of the racist fools would get off their hypocritical asses ??

Kind of like a Kunta Kente cloth or something? Did any of them “jump da broom” after President Trump’s address?

I too noticed that during the SOTU speech cloth from a shit-hole culture was being prominently displayed.

Now before I am called racists, let me just point out that in the African continent most places are literally covered in sewage. Shit holes.

Here I just assumed that they were dishcloths, and that they were just taking a break from helping out in the Congressional kitchen....

Exactly. See my post 30.

These clowns could not give a damn about black Americans. All they wanted last night was to call attention to how sad, pathetic and miserable they are because Trump is the President.

Kente Cloths as a tribute to their shithole country’s heritage?

I think of what a white person would have to do - in effect- to show such a low-life and ignorant attitude.

Wearing a KKK robe and hood comes to mind. That is a fair contrast. Seriously

Where’s “Sheets” Byrd when we really need him?

And how they want us to live here.
