America's Constitution is terrible. Let's throw it out and start over.
The Week ^ | January 26, 2018 | Ryan Cooper

The American Constitution is an outdated, malfunctioning piece of junk — and it's only getting worse.

When written, the Constitution made a morally hideous compromise with slavery that took a war and 750,000 lives to make right. And while its basic structure sort of worked for awhile in the 20th century, the Constitution is now falling prey to the same defects that has toppled every other similar governing document the world over.

...the Constitution is now falling prey to the same defects that has toppled every other similar governing document the world over.

The documents did not fail, the governments did. Those governments failed because it became routine to violate their constitutions.

The bill of rights alone makes it the best compact ever drawn up by humans. The constitution isn’t the issue. It’s the anti-constitutionalists who are finding in it an obstacle to pure socialism.

One can propose changing or even creating a new constitution without expressing complete and utter distain for the old one. Throw it in the garbage? Really? What kind of demented America hating pervert would write that? Not one whose ideas should be given any credibility.

“Worse, the ironclad two-party system has proved to be highly vulnerable to an extreme right-wing fringe that protects itself with gerrymandering and other cheating tactics. “

The author calls out right wing extemists (of which there are very few) and completely ignores left wing extremists (which is now the mainstream DemocRAT party). By his standard Mitt Romney is probably considered a Nazi while Nancy Pelosi and George Washington were ideological bedfellows. Again, the man is demented.
The Repubs and Conservatives have moved quite a bit left since 1960 but are still in sight of where they were back then. Since that same time the RAT party has moved so far left as to be almost unrecognizable.

Couple of thoughts.

-This is yet another reason why the thought of an Article V Convention scares the crap out of me.

-Though I am intrigued by the thought of Question Period with Trump.

Parliamentary systems are less stable than the US Constitution. The parliamentary system he's thinking of, in Great Britain, didn't come into its present form until the mid 1800s during Queen Victoria. What is also missed is the United States is a federation. A parliamentary system would spell the end of the United States as states and regions, disagreeing with the central parliament, would declare their independence. America would quickly end up like Europe. Divided into many separate countries each jealous of the others, each ready to go to war.

A better fix is to abolish the senate filibuster and to return to State appointment of senators. Senators should be like ambassadors of their states. Perhaps, also, get rid of civil service unions and job protections. They work against the best interests of the people. This will be difficult to do because the democrat party has always hungered after power. It remains the counter-American Revolution party, from Aaron Burr' plotting through FDR's fascism to Obama and Hillary's undermining.

What we have is not a failure of the Constitution, but a refusal of people in government to obey it.

And that is EXACTLY what is wrong.

We have a faction of communists who don't believe in the constitution and have worked assiduously to subvert it. They have been successful to a fairly large degree because they have subverted the other institutions (i.e.education) to the point where we have barely a society, and one that simply does not even understand the constitution or basic citizenship.

Speaking of ships, there was a story every child read back in my day. It was called The Man Without a Country. It should be required reading for everyone!

Someone that never took the time to read nor understand the Federalist papers or the ant-federalist papers. Once studied you will understand that the Constitution is based on human behaviors that never change alongside the laws of the Universe and nature.

Leftists have always hated the Constitution because it’s a huge obstacle to their goals and objectives. Pry it from our cold, dead hands.

The original Constitution is fine but some of the Progressive Era amendments need to be reconsidered. The 18th was such a bad idea that it has already been repealed, but we should consider getting rid of the 16th and 17th amendments.

secular humanist libtards are obsessed with evolution. They believe that the Constitution is outdated and obsolete and needs to evolve

There is a constitution in North Korea, but it’s self-nullifying just like constitutions in all other leftist states.

The U.S. Constitution is probably the most brilliant and inspired political document in modern history maybe in all of recorded history.

This guy is a leftist hack. Why post this bull shit?

in the Philippines, we had similar discussions of Charter Change to a Constitutional Assembly.

Wags shortened this to “CHA CHA to CON ASS”.

Because they believe that this country is the only credible threat to world socialism and want to bring it down, that’s why.

Okay.
Dissolve the whole country, then have a new convention of states, and anyone who wants to sign on, can, and the rest can go their own way.
