Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump is proposing giving 1.8 million young undocumented immigrants a pathway to citizenship in exchange for $25 billion for his long-promised wall and a host of other strict immigration cuts, according to a framework proposed Thursday. The outlines of the deal were described by a White House official for staff on Capitol Hill that CNN was given access to on Thursday afternoon. In what the White House official called a "dramatic concession," Trump would accept a path to citizenship for not just those originally eligible for DACA but for a broader population, adding up to 1.8 million people, the official said.

The way I see it is like it or not, the DACA recipients will be given legal status either under Trump, or a future administration. If Trump is able to leverage the inevitable regarding DACA into meaningful changes in immigration law as proposed, it is a smart play.
I’m not freaking out over a couple million people that aren’t going to be deported anyway. I will be ecstatic if we can stop chain migration, lottery visas from sh!t hole countries, and stop this insane asylum claim process that takes years to deport illegals.
Don’t count on it .

How about the eradication of birth citizenship. That would be a tremendous gain. That was abused ever since the Democrats refused to give former black slaves citizenship in the US and the 14 Amendment was passed. It has been egregiously abused and was never meant for illegals to walk across the border and drop a baby into automatic citizenship, with welfare, Medicaid and everything else.
The US is the only nation to do that, and it is killing us.
I would like to see that in the deal.
Plus the wall.
Plus no voting for any of these people unless they they became citizens the traditional way. I would never grant voting rights to anyone who manages to stay here and avoids deportation.
But will the people do it to become citizens?
If no, then Trump should say they broke the deal and will be deported.
Most people don’t realize that in Reagan’s 1986 Amnesty:
More than TWENTY years later Mexicans were STILL suing to be included in that amnesty, often baldly reasoning that THEY HAD NOT BEEN IN THE USA back then.

Interesting wording though. They will grant amnesty to 1.8 million, but by asking to close legal loopholes making it easier to deport, it could be a free-for-all roundup by ICE and Homeland. The non-DACA illegals outnumber the DACA people by anywhere from 12-1 to 25-1. So getting rid of the non DACA illegals by the boatloads and letting the DACA people stay still gives a huge net loss of “voters” (yes, the illegals vote) to the Democrats.
No, alas it’s not the end of the story. We need them to self-deport by eliminating incentives to stay. If that doesn’t happen, there is no practical way to get them out.
Trump is fully aware that all his efforts to save this nation will be for naught if the immigration scheme of the democrats is not thwarted.
IMO, DJT is the most intelligent man to ever hold the office of President.
He is a master of leverage, and beyond that he is, IMO, a man called of God for the difficult tasks that lay before him.
In my heart, I believe he will not let us down...he will ALWAYS take the best possible path forward to achieve ultimate victory for US.

Yeah, I agree about birthright, but the Chinese and Russian baby citizens pale in comparison to the Mexican problem. We need E-Verify like you say because that incentivizes the ones without work permits to leave.

The Democrats want total amnesty and not the measly “concession” being offered by the president for 1.8 million. Why the hell do you think they’re going all out to get the president out of office? They will only get what they want when Trump is gone. The deal won’t be made because the Democrats can’t sign onto it because it denies them their tens of millions of new voters, and the president knows it.
