Hey Republicans, if you want to avoid a government shutdown, it's time to go it alone...

FULL TITLE: Hey Republicans, if you want to avoid a government shutdown, it's time to go it alone without Democrats

It’s time for Republicans in the U.S. House to take decisive action without delay on the issues of immigration reform and government funding that will prevent a government shutdown Friday night.

The House should debate and vote on a two-year budget bill backed by the White House that increases military funding. It should do the same on the Securing America’s Future Act introduced by Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va.

As the immigration and budget negotiations unfold, the conservative majority in the House should not sit idly by and play victim.

Over the past year, the Democrats have shown no genuine interest in working with President Trump or the Republican majority in Congress on any issue. The truth is that the Democrats desperately want a government shutdown.

Over the past year, the Democrats have shown no genuine interest in working with President Trump or the Republican majority in Congress on any issue. The truth is that the Democrats desperately want a government shutdown.

Anyone who thinks that top congressional Democrats – Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York, House Minority Nancy Pelosi of California and Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois – are negotiating in good faith on immigration or the budget should take a mental health test.

The delusional obstructionists in charge of the Democratic Party have no problem with allowing our military to twist in the wind if they don’t get the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) fix that they want on their terms. Everyone in America knows that’s not how negotiating works.

Yes they have declared their intent to resist governance at every turn. Dump the cloture rule and pass the budget without them.

Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan don’t want to vote on DACA or a border wall before the mid-term 2018 Elections.

McConnell won’t change the rule to allow majority vote to pass legislation even though the Democrats changed it to allow their picks for judges to pass on a majority vote. Does he really think the Dems won’t make that change as soon as they are back in control? To the Senate: DUMP McConnell!

Several GOP Senators are saying they won’t for the CR by Friday. They’re “tired of voting for CR’s”.

Look for a shutdown tomorrow and the “blame” placed on Trump and the “Right Wing” in Congress.

Maybe we don’t want to avert a gov’t shutdown.

Considering a “gov’t shutdown” still leaves “essential services” running, many of us view a “shutdown” as the most efficient way to achieve exactly the deep cuts we need to stop the financial hemorrhaging. LET it shut down, then negotiate fiercely & slowly against _any_ resumption of halted services. Dump the “back pay” guarantee (well, I don’t get “back pay” for furlough days not worked in private industry), persuade bureaucrats at all levels to go find work elsewhere (”dunno when this department’s business will resume”), and let department heads convince Congress why theirs actually matters vs others.

Unforunately, the Republican wing of the Uniparty is onboard with the same illegal alien accommodations that the Democrat wing wants. They’re using a government shutdown as the pretext to provide all the legislation they’ve promised the donor class. It will be instructive to see what executive dealmaker does.

“Look for a shutdown tomorrow and the “blame” placed on Trump and the “Right Wing” in Congress.”

Look for a well-crafted response throwing the whole thing back: “you’re shutting down EVERYTHING just because of a few criminals who, when given years of temporary amnesty, did nothing to correct their status?” The Left is expecting the typical process, and after a year STILL hasn’t grasped that standard techniques don’t work against Trump.

Then perhaps they should have actually passed spending legislation, rather than dicking around with other stuff.

I want the GOP to go it alone AND to have a government shutdown! I wanted the first government shutdown that happened while Bill Clinton was POTUS to, still, be ongoing, today! The less government involvement with people’s lives, the better, for the entire U.S. AND for the entire world!

Citizenship after getting back in line at the end and letting those who did not illegally cheat go first. And show proficiency in english, prove they will not be a burden on society. Common sense until 2008. (1994?)

Yeah, and WHEN we say ‘back in line’ we mean ‘wait in line’ in their own country. NOT HERE.

It’s stupid to reward criminal behavior.

It’s like telling people it’s WRONG to break our laws - - then giving them a check for a thousand dollars when they break the law.
