Star Trek takes PC to new extremes, even for Hollywood

Those of you (most of you) who haven't been watching the new Star Trek series, Star Trek Discovery, are missing out on a entirely new level of political correctness. The show features a black female protagonist named Michael; her boyfriend, a Klingon disguised as a Muslim-Arab security officer; an obese female cadet who is a genius in all areas of science; and a gay couple, one of whom is black and possibly also hispanic.

But that isn't enough for SJWs. They actually worry that the black gay character, who is also hispanic, is not visibly hispanic.

Late to the thread (as usual) but reading through the posts I didn’t see anyone mention Star Trek Continues - another of the fan productions.

I stumbled across this on U-toob. Here’s a link to episode 1 (of 10): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rVm3FmwLs8

Not great, but not bad. What sets this mini-series apart from all the other fan productions was their efforts to capture the true look and feel of the original series. It’s very much like coming across “forgotten reels” of TOS.

It’s impossible to tell anything to the haters on this site. And they hate everything. I’ve taken to moving thread topics that would attract the haters underneath a topic that they won’t notice and having lovely, civil discussions one level down. I’m just waiting for them to catch on. Sigh.

But there’s a lot of us NON-haters here. Just wish we could talk the snowflakes into sharing their safe places with us.

He could take bribes. That’s pretty much a standard cultural norm in Latin America. A fee bars of latinum to get something done.

This of course is why Hollywood is now Homowood. Their promotion of deviance covers their own filthy pederastic, pedophilic lifestyles, with the goal of making the raping of young boys acceptable to society.

The character is named Hugh Culber, I never once wondered if he's supposed to be blacktino and neither has anyone on the show.

SJWs are frequently unable to distinguish the actor from the character, as you pointed out. If Culber is played by a black Latino, then he must be a black Latino. Maybe that's why they are whining about him being the first "Hispanic" on Star Trek - they've also failed to notice that the Discovery's captain's surname is Lorca, but because he's played by an English actor, he doesn't count.

Oooh running away from danger really fast! Yes that is going to come in handy on a starship, I’m sure.

People sometimes say that Hollyweird just makes what people want, in it for the money, etc.

I knew all along that was not the case, because inspiring actual family friendly movies DO make money.

No, their purpose is to degrade, defile and promote depravity. I agree with your assessment entirely.

Oooh, you obviously haven’t watched the show!
He’s actually kind of a bad-ass.

Watched a few episodes before it got unbearable. He was a snivelling wuss in those episodes.

Oh he’s definitely risk-averse (as he’s written to be), but when dropped in the pot he acts like any other Star Fleet officer would be expected to act.

I found the pilot bizarre. I don’t blame anyone for giving up after that.

I cancelled CBS-AA as well, it’s not worth the money (either the show itself or the entire service in general), it’s more enjoyable free ;).

Anyway yes, there was a gay couple and they are flamers (it would be more interesting if they had not been a couple but whatever). But other than that I have not found myself overwhelmed by PC. “New extremes”? Hardly. I certainly don’t find it to be “ homofascist propaganda” (tm DJ) just cause there are some fruity characters.

The article seems to be going for clickbait outrage rather than a substantive criticism of the plot. There is plenty to criticize besides the ethnicity of cast members.

Instead of a”one from column A, two from column B’ character, why don’t they try to just make an interesting character, with an interesting back story?
