Mueller III, to testify before a grand jury as part of the investigation into possible links between Mr. Trump’s associates and Russia, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter.

Steve Bannon should show up real early with a briefcase full of printed articles from various sources detailing how corrupt Robert Mueller is. Include one about James Comey & Robert Mueller falsely attacking Steven Hatfill with no evidence; Hatfill later sued and got $5.82 million from the DOJ.

Bannon could be passing out these articles in the hallway while waiting to go in. And a corps of helpers could be outside the building handing them out. They could probably have one sheet of paper with just links and titles; there are so many articles detailing Robert Mueller's corruption.

I'm thinking it's the Wolff book as well. Before that book, Bannon wasn't even on the radar with any of this nonsense, but Bannon definitely inserted himself into it with all those quotes that are attributed to him in the book.

Was it by design or was it just stupidity on Bannon's part? Only time will tell.

Keep in mind also that if Mueller ends up clearing Trump in his investigation, which I think he will, in order for it to hold water with the rabid Left, he has to explore every blind alley and check off every box. So I'm not surprised the Bannon has been subpoenaed and yes, I think it's because of the Wolff book.

Mueller had no interest in Bannon until the “salacious and unverified” Wolfe book comes out, and Bannon is alleged to have said that Don Jr.’s behavior at the Trump Tower meeting was “treasonous,” and further embellished with unspecified remarks about “money laundering” by Trump's businesses.

Mueller just wants to see if Bannon knows something.

What makes this an act of desperation is that if Mueller had turned up something he would have wanted to talk to Bannon months ago. If you need the Wolfe book to provide your investigative leads, you're close to batting zero.

Exactly. As I stated before, Mueller is just "checking the box" here. Nobody will be able to say he didn't turn over every stone.

I'm still puzzled why Bannon would say such things to a left wing author. I thought he was smarter than that. He had to know that he would be quoted in the book and that it would be explosive. Why would he throw himself and his career on a grenade like that?

Right. Keep in mind that the release of the Wolff book has an understandable tendency to muddy the timeline of what has transpired over the last 12+ months. The Bannon quotes in the book may seem like recent developments because the book was only released very recently, but I understand all of the quotes in it date back to Bannon’s tenure in the White House — which ended more than five months ago.

Hearing various unconfirmed reports on twitter that Bannon has declined to answer questions in his House Intel Committee appearance today. Some are saying that he took the 5th, while other are saying that he declined citing executive privilege.

These idiots think that 1) what Bannon said was accurate, and 2) he’s gonna attack Trump, Jared, Ivanka, and that he’s gonna give info on Russia (he can’t. He had absolutely no contact whatsoever with anything Russian, and was proud of that.

What will happen is an Ollie North moment where he rips them a new one, explains what economic nationalism is all about, and praises Trump in front of the whirring TV cameras. They may not recover.
