Republican Rep. Mia Love deplored President Donald Trump for reportedly criticizing immigrants coming to the United States from what he called "shithole countries."
"I can't defend the indefensible. You have to understand that there are countries that struggle out there. But their people, their people are good people and they're part of us. We're Americans," Love, who represents Utah and is the first Haitian-American elected to Congress, said on CNN's "State of the Union."
Referring to immigrants from African countries, Trump asked lawmakers during an Oval Office meeting on immigration reform, "Why do we want all these people from 'shithole countries' coming here?" a source briefed on the meeting told CNN.
The President has denied making the comment.
"The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used. What was really tough was the outlandish proposal made - a big setback for DACA!" Trump tweeted on Friday.
Love, whose parents immigrated from Haiti, told "State of the Union" that she thinks the President's comments were racist.
"I think they were, yes. I think they were unfortunate. I don't know if they were taken -- I wasn't in the room. I know the comments were made. I don't know in which context they were made," she said. "I'm looking forward to finding out what happened, but more importantly, I'm looking forward to fixing the problem."

“Mia Love is a huge disappointment.”
Voters took a gamble electing this woman. And lost.
Voters need to fix this problem.
Unfortunately, another virtue-signalling, Republican idiot .
We are not required, nor would it be prudent, to take in the whole damn world.
I’m sure there are some good people in Haiti. And some baddies.
But it makes no difference about the content of character. Our immigration should be very limited and very choosy.
Get over yourself Mia. Compassion to the world is not compassion to the citizens of this country. In the US, we should come first.
Yes, she turned out to be a Communist.
Can a political/societal observation be both racist *and* true?
I live in Utah. mia love is a rino and now it established that she is a loser. Did her parents leave haiti because it was a wonderful country with freedom and lots of great opportunity? What a moron.
So people get roused up on something that is heresay, but I am willing to call crime ridden areas hell holes? Sounds like there are many stupid people in this country
I don’t believe what cnn says MIA Love said.

Adding another state to the boycott/avoid list.
Very disappointed. But I’m sure she’ll be invited to all the parties in washington
“I wish people could be reminded of the difference between racism, discrimination, and prejudice. Not every comment showing any type of discrimination or prejudice is racist.”
And not all discrimination is bad.
I discriminate against Democrat candidates in every election. It would never occur to me to vote for someone who believes in Democrat party “principles.”
It doesnt even qualify as compassion for the world because the people who stay in the third world countries are generally the most impoverished of the bunch, and with many of their own not coming back but getting benefits, you could argue that life is made worse for they who are left behind.
What’s infuriating is that she’s blabbing about this on CNN. When are Republicans going to learn to stop trashing other Republicans while the media smiles like Mr. Burns.
Mia is too dim a virtue signalling bulb to realize the fire of Hades that will come down on Never Trumpers should POTUS lose a close race for reeelection.
When it comes to color, the bottom line is that they revert to the age old racist mantras that is entrenched into their psyche. They will ally with color before anything else. Love is no different as she gravitates to her core beliefs.

Does this make me a racist? Who cares! What I know about the general subject is based on *personal* experience, witnessed with eyes and ears that work at least reasonably well.
Right.
Whomever we take in is a drop in the bucket as far as world-wide numbers.
But the continued flow into this country is going to have devastating effects.
