Rep. Kevin Cramer, a North Dakota Republican, announced Thursday he will not challenge sitting Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp in the Senate race this fall.
During an interview with KFYR radio, Cramer said he and his family decided the best decision was for him to just run again for his House seat. The move is seen as a blow to Republicans who hope to pick up the seat in the traditionally deep red state.

Cramer's announcement comes after Cramer told CNN last week that President Donald Trump was urging him to run for Senate.

Who is it, exactly, that loves 'em?
“As a democrat, shes pretty moderate.”
Really? With all due respect she’s the typical democrat voting left on every major bill/issue that matters. All ocare repeals - NO. Tax Bill - NO.
Her overall Trump friendly record is supposedly moderate but is boosted by votes that everyone would make such as extending government funding and hurricane relief.
Except for judicial (including Gorsuch) and non-controversial cabinet nominations which would’ve passed anyway for show she’s a typical reliable leftist so again why do Midwestern states vote GOP POTUS but so often leftist for Senate and House? Just curious.

“why do Midwestern states”
Sorry meant to say Plains and/or Mountain West states.
Let me put it in context. Having lived in San Francisco and Seattle, she’s pretty moderate from what I’m used to seeing. As in, she’s not a complete uber-liberal whack-job.
“Let me put it in context. Having lived in San Francisco and Seattle, shes pretty moderate from what Im used to seeing. As in, shes not a complete uber-liberal whack-job.”
Compared to Pelosi I suppose but what good does that do? She’s not a nut job with wacky statements but what really is the difference between her and a liberal whack-job? Lot of good it does that she or other Plains state democrats aren’t as leftist as Pelosi if they are still going to vote for o-care, higher taxes or faux environmental legislation.
But also again the bigger, main point is why do the Plains states vote so solidly GOP POTUS but go wobbly many times on House and Senate members? There is no logic to it. Why be so conservative with POTUS votes but leftie (even if not AS left as Pelosi which isn’t saying much) with congressional votes?
If there hadn’t been 7 Democrat senators from all the Plains states and throw Alaska in there (Conrad, Dorgan, Johnson, Baucus, Tester, Nelson, Begich) all states that have voted super solid GOP POTUS since 1964 (Montana 1992 the exception) Obamacare wouldn’t have had a prayer to pass.
Please don’t get me wrong. I’m not criticizing just trying to understand the ideological disconnect.
Did someone finally activate those missing FBI files? Or even not-so-missing files?
Possibly but those files are getting long in the tooth. I mean even if the Clinton’s took them in 2000, that is almost 18 years. I would imagine that the majority of the files are on people who no longer are in the Congress.
I think the GOP is intentionally going into the tank, knowing that this will paralyze Trumps agenda. Once they lose Congress the GOP will rediscover their courage and talk wistfully about all the conservative things they could do if only we controlled Congress and the White House. Its a complete and utter charade by the Unipartys loveable losers.
.
.
Yep and all funded by the globalist donors and lobbyists.
They’re not fools or losers, they’re sellouts.
The RNC???
They are half of the problem. The other half is the DNC/dems/libs.
One more theory: Those who aren’t running are compromised. They have been told retire or have your crimes exposed.
Are you kidding me!?!? What you give to them they'll give to a Dem running against a Trump supporter. Give you cash directly to a Trump-supporting candidate.
” Mitts wife is pushing him to run in Utah.”
He only has one?
We don’t need a ball-less opponent to run.
This guy is not retiring he intends to campaign for the House seat he currently holds.
The deep state told him not to run.The deep state plans for the republicats lose the house and senate to derail Trunps, and those whom support him, agenda.Plain as day to see.30 republicans retiring? Really?
So there is not another Republican who will run for the seat?
This man y stepping down, and now rufusing to run for a seat which is vulnerable. Something smells fishy
Are there no Freepers in that state? Geez! Somebody step up to the plate.
Heitkamp hasn’t been below 55% in forever.
All this talk about how she was going down was B.S.
She’s friendly, Trump praised her, she has the farmers, the Indians, the old people and the college towns in her pocket.
Kramer isn’t being stupid...he’s hanging on to his House seat.
Rats would need to gain 18 Senate seats to convict and remove without GOP votes. There aren’t even that many GOP seats up.
And there is an ND challenger, State Senator Tom Campbell.
I’d prefer someone like Cramer who’s won statewide before but Campbell will do if no one else is interested. In a small state like ND running a State Senator is ok, retail politics is key there.
The filthy commie Heidiheit*unt is eminently beatable, ND is a heavily GOP state (The President stumping for Campbell would do wonders and he needs to not praise the woman in any way) and in a midterm the turnout on the reservations shouldn’t be as high as it was when she stole the election in 2012. People on this thread need to get a grip with the chicken little. A disappointingly small gain is on the table, a rat Senate is not. Not unless Trump is super unpopular, in which case we’re effed and it doesn’t matter much what candidates we run.
