Trump said he will sign whatever bill is put before him, even though he might not like elements of it.
The Rats (especially Feinstein, Cuellar, and the woman from Hawaii) kept pressing for a “clean” DACA bill, unencumbered by border security, chain migration, visa lottery, or anything else, and that those issues can be taken up in a Phase II which would address “comprehensive immigration reform.”
A couple Rats appeared to be acceptable to DACA with “border security,” (i.e., some sort of wall), but that chain migration and visa lottery would be addressed later.
Feinstein said: “What about a clean DACA bill now, with a commitment to go into a comprehensive immigration procedure later.” Trump replied: “We’ll do DACA, and then Phase II comprehensive immigration reform.”
Also, RINOs Graham and Flake and Grassley included “path to citizenship” under DACA, and not just legalization per green card.
A proposed bill in the House (Bob Goodlatte’s bill) was to address DACA in a permanent way, but with border enforcement, interior enforcement, and to address chain migration, visa lottery, and sanctuary cities. The Rats pretty much said No.
We’ll see who caves first, but it looks like the final bill will be amnesty for DACA and some kind of agreement to fund a wall (the actual building of which will be the subject of a Rat judge’s injunction). And Trump said he will sign it if that is what comes to his desk.
