BREAKING: Sen. Orrin Hatch Announces Retirement – Will Not Seek Reelection
Gateway Pundit ^ | 01/02/17

Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the longest serving Republican Senator in U.S. history, announced Tuesday he is retiring from the Senate at the end of his term.

This is a blow to the Trump administration. Trump encouraged Orrin Hatch to run for re-election.

Trump and Bannon have been working to block RINO hack Mitt Romney from running for the Utah Senate seat.

Mitt Romney has until March 15 to file for Hatch’s Senate seat.

It’s sad to see how Freepers here fail to see just how bad the chips were stacked against Judge Moore.

I really don’t care about left vs. right or democrat vs. republican anymore. I’m looking for patriots who are willing to uphold our Constitution and Judge Moore was one of those Americans.

What even some Freepers don’t realize here is just how corrupt the whole apparatus of Washington DC has become as they use to full power of their apparatus, including the medias, to take out someone who was a threat to their power.

We will never get this country back if we continue to allow ourselves to be manipulated by the corrupt powers that be.

I would have liked to have seen him come out more solidly for Moore.

*************

I would have liked to see Moore come out more solidly for Moore.
He didn’t and he lost.

IMO Moore could have won had he traversed the state the last
10 days of the campaign speaking to the locals. He didn’t
campaign hardly any as best that I can tell and left the
state for a football game. I know he went to Army and his
son is there but damn it he had a job to do and he didn’t.
And now we have to deal with one less vote in the Senate
because of his lack of interest and detail to winning.

I don’t believe anyone challenged this.

Trump did follow McConnell’s lead there. McConnell has been around to see a lot more election dynamics than Trump has over the years.

While I disagree with Trump’s take on it, it wasn’t an off the wall thought considering he was being fed a line by Mitch.

These are the same types of things Mitch/Ryan/and the GOPe had been saying about Trump.

When you have McConnell/Ryan/the GOPe trying to tell you what the dynamics are, you sometimes can’t bully your way through. You have to act like you trust them to a degree.

Once again, here we are with information on Trump, totally ignoring the other players who demanded Moore step aside or Republicans vote for anyone but Moore.

I’m not certain why some FReepers seem motivated to trash Trump here claim Moore was terrible choice and give the GOPe a complete pass.

What’s up with you folks?

Is this some sort of coming out day for you, in preparation for the primaries and the election in November?

At one time I thought she was great.(Mia Love)

Ignore all the "nice things" written on her web site...just look at the actual voting record.

OMG folks...

Moore was literally the only person slogging it out in Alabama.

He had been abandoned and fought against by almost every entity. And yet the fact he was able to come within 1.5% of the win, says nothing to you.

Despite the full onslaught of the media and both parties against him, he was a good enough candidate to almost win anyway.

What the hell part of this escapes you?

Once again Moore is blamed, and the full onslaught against him had nothing to do with it.

The level of absurdity to these arguments, is second to none.

Thanks.

I haven’t paid attention to her votes, but obviously you have.

Sorry to hear that report.

You know, in some ways I am a racist. When it comes to politics I have a special place in my heart for Blacks who get it.

It really makes me happy to see Conservative Blacks.

Evidently Mia Love is not what I was lead to believe she would be.

Happens with Whites all the time too, sadly.

Can you show me a campaign schedule of where Moore was each of
the last 10 days? How many events did he hold, etc.

I’ve looked and can’t find one. I know he went to the Army/Navy
game but how many rallies he held, how many hands he shook, how
many interviews of the locals he made I have no idea. Maybe he
did campaign hard and was totally ignored by the media/press/etc.

With every trick in the book pulled against Moore in this election, he still came in only 1.5% behind his opponent.

You seem to act like this was some sort of great accomplishment! Moore lost! In Alabama! A Republican losing in Alabama is like a Democrat losing in Chicago. It just doesn't happen.

FFS, Moore got over a hundred thousand fewer votes than Jeff Sessions did in 2014 when Sessions ran unopposed! A mid-term election with no opponent and more people still showed up to vote for Jeff Sessions!

This speaks volumes about what a LOUSY candidate Roy Moore was.

He was outspend 10-14 to 1.

Are you aware that all these venues cost money?

Once again, Moore is trashed, and the GOPe walks away scott free.

Well, I guess someone has to represent the GOPe stance on these issues, and defer any responsibility for what they did leading up to this election loss.

Tell me, would one more rally have convinced you to vote for a man that would have voted our way almost 100% of the time?

Frankly, I’m doubting it would have caused anyone else to be more likely to.

Either they preferred someone who would vote with us, or they didn’t.

I agree, but Roy Moore is roundly hated by hundreds of thousands or maybe millions in Alabama, apparently. They’d rather have a Democrat in the Senate representing us than Roy Moore. Apparently, one thing Alabamians can’t stand is someone who is a serious Christian who marries a young bride.

It was a disaster to have Moore as the candidate

Apparently. Because Republicans these days can't stand anyone who is a serious Christian.

Republican primary voters picked Roy Moore, the only guy who could possibly lose in Alabama. He lost by 20,000 votes in a state that Trump carried by 600,000 votes. Republican primary voters had best pull their heads out of their asses and stop picking losers.

I've got a better idea: I'm going to stop voting. If I vote for a committed Christian like Moore, and am told I am "picking losers", and the result is you people elect Demonrats, then why should I even vote?

Again, if the kind of people we vote for are deemed as “losers”, why should we even vote in a Federal election ever again?

The Democrats and Republicans prefer ANY candidate to a serious, committed Christian. We need not apply for any Federal office anymore.

...so much that they would rather be represented by a radical abortion advocate like Doug Jones. Sinners like Moore? No, thanks.

Ok we’ll have our differing opinions about what Moore could have
done, did and didn’t do. He lost so maybe he couldn’t have done
anything else that would have gather enough votes to win. I
personal think he could have won with another strategy, JMO

673,896 Jones,
651,972 Moore,
. 22,852 write-ins,

Agreed. We will have no real change as long as there is a Congress filled with the likes of Orrin Hatch, John McCain, Paul Ryan, etc. The likelihood of Mitt Romney replacing Hatch is sickening. I dread hearing him pontificate against Trump. If we do not elect people like Roy Moore, Michelle Bachmann, Kelli Ward, etc., this country will not turn around.

01. McConnell pushing Strange and denigrating Moore, saying he couldn’t get elected in November
02. Ryan pushing for Strange, saying Moore couldn’t get elected in November
03. The GOPe pushing for Strange, saying Moore couldn’t get elected in November
04. President Trump pushing for Strange, saying Moore couldn’t get elected in November
05. The Leftist created sex abuse allegations
06. The media running with these charges as if indisputable
07. The Democrat party running with these charges as if indisputable
08. Leading Democrats across the nation demanding Moore step aside
09. The talking heads across the nation falling in line to demand the same thing
10. Cruz announcing his desire for Moore to step down
11. McConnell announcing his opposition to Moore
12. McConnell actually supporting the idea Moore would be kicked out of the Senate if he won
13. McConnell announcing he thought Moore should step aside
14. Ryan announcing he thought Moore should step aside
15. The Republican leadership ordering every Republican to vote for a write in or the Democrat opponent
16. Senator Shelby (and others) participated in robo-calls a day or two before the special election ordering Republicans to stay home, vote for the write in, or the Democrat
17. The DNC tossed money to Moore’s opponent
18. Major Leftist contributors followed suit
19. Barack Obama provided $4 million dollars in last minute campaign funding (or special function funding)
20. Money spend by or for his challenger, is calculated to be between ten and fourteen to one, more than Moore had at his disposal
21. The DNC lofted efforts to get out the Democrat vote
22. The RNC didn’t
23. Big name Democrats, the rank and file Democrats, the GOPe, big Republican names supported Moore’s opponent
24. Hardly any effort was put into effect to help more by either party

Against all this, you and others attempt to support the idea that Moore lost because he didn’t hold a few more events, and he went to the Army/Navy game.

Paul, Mitch, whichever of you this is, put a sock in it.
