FBI conducts raid in Sterling, VA

STERLING, Va. - The FBI is conducting a raid in a Northern Virginia neighborhood on Friday.

Aerial footage from SkyFox showed police activity taking place in the 46900 block of Courtyard Square in Sterling.

No further information was given by authorities at this time.

FOX 5's Cori Coffin reports that FBI agents along with members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police were going in and out of a home on the street. There is also a mobile unit stationed in the area with FBI agents inside. Several law enforcement members were seen bringing items and boxes from the home.

A neighbor told FOX 5 that a family moved into the home where the raid is taking place about a month ago.

Could be anything or NOTHING. A few years ago, around 2005, FBI raided a small boutique style store in a small strip shopping center next to the insurance agency were we worked. The FBI boxed up more stuff than it looked like was in the “store”. It was a strange operation and we suspected They were laundering money or something right from the start. They were supposedly selling custom Italian shoes and suites, but we rarely saw a customer. Someone later told us they were dealing in Cuban Cigars. A lot of fanfare for cigars, but then a lot of those guys get off on making their invasions dramatic, I think they like to be visible and they like to scare the crap out of people.

The local news says the FBI isn't saying much other than that they had a warrant and the state police and county sheriff assisted.
They showed the door where the FBI broke in, showed a dozen FBI agents carrying small to medium size boxes and by the way they were holding them, the boxes were not very heavy.
They showed about a dozen FBI agents leaving the house and unlike the neighbor's house, this house had no Christmas decorations.
They interviewed neighbors who knew little about the residents other than they moved in this past summer and the man wore long robes and the woman wore burkas, not unusual because the ADAMS mosque is nearby.

As the crow flies, Sterling is rather close to the Potomac River. Pretty much a hop, skip and jump. And it’s in the same county Levin speaks of living in. But it’s not likely he’s in Sterling, more likely one of the more upscale Loudoun communities.
