The embattled National Football League announced its decision to cancel this weeks edition of Sunday Night Football on Tuesday; hoping to avoid a ratings bloodbath as a less-than-stellar line-up and New Years Eve festivities would have caused the NFL to reach embarrassing new lows.
The league opted to call-off the game before announcing which teams were scheduled to compete, adding the match-up wouldnt have playoff implications and would likely cost the already troubled organization millions of dollars.
We felt that both from a competitive standpoint and from a fan perspective, the most fair thing to do is to schedule all Week 17 games in either the 1 p.m. or 4:25 p.m. windows, said a spokesperson for the NFL.
The National Football League is struggling to wrap up its disastrous 2017 season, with millions of fans tuning out or staying home following months of player protests.
Industry insiders predict the demonstrations have cost the NFL over $500 million.
President Trump thrust the issue into the national spotlight earlier this year, calling for a national boycott of the NFL until officials and owners clamp-down on their athletes taking a knee during the performance of the Star-Spangled Banner.
Oh, c’mon! English composition is so like last century.
Baseball is the real American sport. And you don’t have to live your life hyped on steroids to hit 250+ pounds to qualify.

I was (and still am) in Southern Caoifornia, so I saw the ending, which "Heidi" preempted in much of the rest of the country. I was rooting for the Raiders because LA didn't have an AFL team, so I was happy.
Yes. Four.
First one starts in about 50 minutes.
“Time to cue those who feel that our boycott is not working.”
The boycott is having a big impact.
At the Superdome in New Orleans, there were almost 70 people that did not show-up for each Saints game.
Very few things stop the mail or the NFL from delivering.. well,, until this year.. and the mail is just fine.. sooooo..
‘Downsizing’ is a megatrend and all the rage these days yaknow.
This all could have been avoided, this season has been the torpedo in the coal bunker, not even the rats can save this ship.
Everyone can say it is vecause of ratings but it is totally because they wanted all playoff possible teams and ganes that could affect seeding to be played at same times.
Hate the kneeling but won’t claim some victory that is not true.
Thanks.
“They will gladly lose money defending that point...”
Which NFL team has lost money?
Pictures around the league have testified to either the league lying or the league playing games with actual attendance versus paid seats.
Evidently, a lot of season ticket holders were really PO’d.
Wonder what they’ll do next year if those folks don’t renew?
But football has a host of problems. People are tired of defending criminals, spouse/girlfriend abusers, child abusers, on field clowns, stupid celebrations, tv timeouts, referee magical rulings, brain concussions, bulked up abnormal humans, early death, etc.
Who wants to put their kids into an environment where they get to be the cannon fodder that these folks get to train on at the HS and college levels?
Game is not canceled it was just rescheduled to earlier in the day.
Is less money lost money?

I can understand how the NFL can cancel the broadcast of the Sunday Night Game on Tuesday.
But I do not understand how the NFL expects to sell any tickets for a Sunday Night Game if it is unknown whether the game will be played in the afternoon or evening.
