epublican Sen. John McCain is returning to Arizona after spending several days in a Maryland hospital recovering from side effects from chemotherapy treatment for brain cancer, CBS News has learned.
McCain left Washington Sunday and is heading back to his home state to spend the holidays with his family. He will not be on hand for the final vote on the GOP tax passage expected for early this week. It is unclear when McCain might return to Washington.
Despite a razor-thin margin needed to pass the measure, McCain's presence will not likely be the determining factor in the vote. Two critical senators -- Bob Corker of Tennessee and Marco Rubio of Florida -- announced their support for the bill last week after initially saying they would oppose earlier versions.

I’m not a McCain fan, but I have to call “Bull S//t”. I trust the words of the late Colonel Bud Day, MOH Recipient and roommate of McCain’s in the Hilton... Misty 1 was one tough SOB. While he did acknowledge McCain always played to the crowds, he did not badmouth him in his Bio, and he supported him in his run against Obama. Well, which is it? Having old incapacitated people in either chamber of congress is not in the best interest of America. John McCain is acting like a drama queen making this all about him, and not what is the best course of action that the country should take.
Another old person who puts self above country does not deserve any respect. The sooner the vacancy sign is lit, the better. Regardless of whether the vacancy is due to death or retirement. Having too many incapacitated old people in Congress is like having too many illegal aliens taking jobs away from Americans.

McCain is filthy rich with seven...or is it eight...houses. A normal person diagnosed with terminal brain cancer (who also has premium health insurance) would resign/retire to live out their final months with family and loved ones. McCain refuses to do so. To me, that is sad and goes to show that there is something seriously wrong with him, which predates the cancer diagnosis. Apparently he’s not done trying to stick it to his fellow Americans.
Among some FReepers during the past couple of years, besmirching McCain has come in a close second only to swearing by all that is holy, that they do not now, nor have they ever, watched FNC.
