After years of strong gains in states across the country, Republicans now fear they stand to lose hundreds of state legislative seats in next years midterm elections if there is a significant voter backlash against President Trump.
Any losses would come at the worst time: Just ahead of the redistricting process that begins with the 2020 census.

Northern VA has been flooded with illegals and refugees too.
Absolutely agree, as long as we are indoctrinating our young folks in government schools, we are fighting a losing battle.
Mitch stated they must marginalize the Tea Party people before they get here. Not exact quote but to the best of my memory.
Will they be OK being replaced by democrats ?

They don’t care, they’re arrogant pieces of crap who in retirement if they lose will be set for life and still wield power through some lobbying firm.
Might be worse if Trump keeps his current Cabinet.
No, they don’t. If they did, they would be working hard. They are trying to create deep losses so they can allow the Democrats to impeach Trump. They are all on the same team... the political elite team. .

.
yep
You should worry, GOP, but the backlash isn’t against Trump, it’s against you.
You’ve got to go. That’s all there is to it.
Yes, it does.
She hates them, and she wants to make them gone.
And so do many others.
I would go as far to say that Trump actually comes out ok here.
I know that Trump would have preferred that Moore not be the nominee, and he knew he’d have a struggle to win.
But he still was the good soldier and did what he could to save the seat, unlike the other backstabbers.
And I think his Tweet last night shows that he is starting to learn the game, and he will start to win over his critics within the GOP.
Let the Democrats think that last night weakens Trump, they do so at their peril.
screw shapiro and avid anti trumper who bases trump ever chance he gets
Agree.
They got one Senate win in ALA, so far......and its a big one....a solid red state.
However, in 2018 they have 25 House seats up, Republicans have 8 seats. Dems have, minimum, 11 at risk, while Republicans have merely one.
My guess is Dems lose 8; Republicans end up at a healthy 59 seat majority. (Unless every voter becomes a misogynist or a pedophile next year.)
In the meantime, the "Hooray For Us" Dems are blind-sided ----- they arent seeing what the other hand is doing b/c we are stacking up wins like cord wood.
Judiciary being the biggest thus far
.......which puts a huge crimp in their nasty agenda. (hat tip Vendome)
Yes, I agree.
The only thing I have for Mr. Trump is love. I mean genuine love.
But I hate the GOP.
Although I do find myself in agreement with some folks around here who have analyzed that Moore was not a very good candidate based upon his behavior during the campaign. I do not believe the women, however.
Sheila Jackson Lee this morning in the Rosenstein hearings held up pictures of the Trump accusers and demanded a hearing.(impeachment)
Thank you Mitch and Paul.
Spit.
Poop! I aint giving up this easy!
Frankly, they deserve to lose. We gave them 100% control in 2016 and they have done worse than nothing with it. That said, we should see to it that the wrath of the voters falls mostly on the GOPe leadership. Let the animus frustration of conservatives fall on THEM. Primary opponents for ALL of them.
You see any reason to think he is going to stop this, other than the secret plan to indict 6000 deep staters with the help of Mueller and Sessions? </s>
You need to vote for a non establishment candidate in the primaries if one is presented to you as a choice. If the GOPe turdball wins the primary THEN go scorched earth.
So everyone always forgets about the primaries. The primaries are the key.
