Alabama votes on Tuesday in a special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, now the attorney general. The last polls close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Strong support for Roy S. Moore, the Republican, is expected in rural, mostly white parts of the state and in its northern half. The Democrat, Doug Jones, aims to create a lead in the urban counties that include Birmingham and Montgomery, and across a band of largely black counties.
One critical battleground is a trio of smaller, whiter cities: Mobile, Tuscaloosa and Huntsville. Mr. Moore won a hard race in 2012 by keeping things close there. Mr. Jones hopes to win the cities by a convincing margin.

No, some people actually look at things other than the current vote total and realize where the votes are still left to be counted. Some of us know how democrats work. If there are still 80-100k votes in Birmingham, that erases a 5% lead in a heartbeat and you can’t makeit up in the rural areas.
Please don’t put me on that “sky is falling” list :-) ... I’m just repeating what I’m seeing :-). Even if Moore loses, it is NOT the end of the world by any stretch of the imagination. Hell, Moore can still win if the turnout numbers in the major cities are wrong (though it looks like Montgomery will be the center of Dem shenanigans).
I’m hearing the same, which is why the ny time site has us at significant odds of losing. Can’t believe I’m seeing such low turnout in our biggest red suburban areas. The GOPE handed this to the dems if we lose by demoralizing our side.

In what respect is Moore a flawed candidate? He is pro-life, for MAGA, for lower taxes, for strong military among others. If he tried to befriend a teenager 40 years ago, that is a non-issue since he has been married for 3 decades to the same woman and SHE has nevr accused him of straying.
