Its like the cops get away with one thing one year and then do something even more unimaginable the next.
did the jury see the video ? it was made to sound that the video wasn’t released until after the jury verdict.

I almost always side with the cops in these shootings. But with this one, IMHO, there is ZERO “feared for his life” element with the cop. This was an execution carried out by the cop as soon as he felt he could get away with it. I’d like to be on the jury that hears any future civil suits against this evil cop.
The only other case I can recall where I saw the cop had no justification for a shooting was one (I believe it may have been in North Carolina) where the cop shot the guy in the back as he ran away unarmed.

NO one can convince me after watching the video that this wasn’t cold blooded murder. The cop should be in prison
I posted this yesterday but I think it is a life changing moment for me.
When ordered by a LEO down on my Knees, I will comply.
Extend my arms at a 90 degree angle from my body.

Sure you are bucky- just listen to the police- follow instructions and don’t engage i inactions that can and will be interpreted as aggressive or dangerous such as reaching for a gun
There w2as NOTHING complicated about “Do NOT reach your hands in any direction or towards the small of tyour back or behind you- if you do this WILL BE SEEN as a threat and we WILL deal with you in an equally agressive manner-” ( or soemthign to that effect)
Seemed pretty clear to me-
HOWEVER, having said that- the cop probably should have said “Keep your hands in the air at all times and knee walk towards me like you wife just did- and as long as you do NOT drop your hands for ANY reason- you will come out of this alive and well”
I saw the video. The cop was a sociopath wanting to kill someone. Looks like he got his way.
He was white, so his life doesn’t matter....................
That cop should be hung in the public square, and the higher up should be replaced now.
There is no excuse for that. Zero.
That cop looked like a young punk
With Shaver my attitude is that the cops could have,and should have,handled the situation differently...*much* differently...even before the shots were fired.
But,to make a long story short,my attitude is (given the facts as I understand them) that while one,or both,of the cops could reasonably have been charged with some kind of negligence (gross negligence...lethal negligence) what happened there wasn't "murder" of any kind.The guy's movement could reasonably have been suspected to be a reach for a weapon.
The cops handled the matter foolishly even before the shots were fired.That fact was made worse by the dead guy being drunk at the time.
So,in South Carolina the cop deserved many years in the slammer...in this case they may well have deserved a few.But no more than a few.

The officer did sound like an asshole and hindsight now reveals the guy was not armed but the known facts at the instead of decision to shoot were different.
The guy was repeatedly told to keep his hands in view.
But at 3:52 he reached behind his back with both hands and was screamed at.
He then at 4:26 he again reached behind his back with his right hand and was shot as he quickly brought that hand forward.
The cop did not have the benefit of hindsight and many officers have been shot and killed for not shooting fast enough when a guy reached for something that did turn out to be a weapon.
Not the best outcome but an understandable outcome for those who don’t hate cops.
I have to ask...why did the deceased move his hand toward the back of his waistband when he was explicitly directed to NOT do that? We’ll never know.
What I didn’t understand is why didn’t they tell the guy to stay down on the floor and have the second cop approach him while his hands were stretched out in front of him on the floor?
It was blatantly obvious that this guy was totally wasted and unable to fully heed the commands of the officer.
We also cannot disregard the obvious terror and panic that Shaver displayed. He begged police “please do not shoot me” and was audibly crying. Everything about the surrounding circumstances showed that Shaver, a husband and father of two young children, just wanted to get out of that hallway with his life. Shaver’s tone and body language were in no way threatening. The officers responded to him with delusional ferocity anyway.
That Brailsford was carrying an AR-15 with “You’re F-—ed” etched into the weapon is a major indicator that he has some very deep-seated issues and should never have been given a badge or a gun.
Simply put, the Shaver shooting was an execution video. This is not about politics. Any moral, law-abiding American should be furious at what happened to Daniel Shaver.
So sad! So frightening :( I have almost always give police benefit of the doubt...not this time and maybe should rethink in future :(
It is not unimaginable to me that under certain circumstances—too much celebrating at a wedding for example—any of my family or friends, law-abiding good citizens, could be in a situation like Shavers—Truly a “being in wrong place at wrong time with the wrong cop”...
