President Trumps trip to Utah Monday was ostensibly about eliminating national monument status for two Utah landmarks. But most speculate that the real reason for the trip was a subtle effort to block Mitt Romney from reentering politics.
Romney has made noise about a potential run for Senator Orrin Hatchs seat, should the longtime Utah senator choose not to seek reelection next year.
Mondays presidential visit seemed to turn into a full-on lobbying effort to get Hatch to stay put. Or perhaps more to the point, to get Romney to stay far away from Washington. And Romney was all too happy to hit back with a tweet that made it clear hes not about to be shoved aside.
The rising tensions are indeed another chapter in a long-simmering feud that began more than two years ago when Trump entered the presidential race.
But this latest round is less about the past than it is a preview of what it could look like should Romney run and win a Senate seat from his new home state of Utah next year. A Senator Romney wouldnt just be a force in Washington on policy matters but also would probably serve as the counterweight trying to block Trumps takeover of the Republican Party.

hahahahaha.
Trump has bits of Scum Willard in his stool.

LOL, your post was my first involuntary response!
Glad to see you utilizing your Mittens arsenal.
Carry on!
Will Crowley moderate the Romney-Hatch debates?
For anyone who wants to go back and stomach Romney’s speech on Trump last year you’ll understand its very personal.
In 2012, when he wanted (and received) Trumps endorsement for his doomed presidential campaign, he spoke about Trump in the most glowing, obsequious terms:
Romney thanks Trump for endorsement.
But in 2016, all of a sudden Trump was a liar, a con man and a failure as a business man.
As the above video shows, Romney doesn't have an ounce of integrity, and shouldnt hold any political position or have any public presence whatsoever.
Senator RINOmney.
Hmmm, wonder which way he’ll vote. (not)
I don’t think Trump “fears” anyone, but a Senator Romney will be a boil on America’s butt.
He won’t be a plus. Media hero and all for losing to Obama.
But there’ll be several new R Senators in line with Trump so Trump will still be better off than he is now.
Romney is a Rino. Trump could not count on him.
Ironically, what if Romney won in 2012? Hillary would have beaten him in 2016 and there would be no Trump presidency.
“Never Trump” would be reality. Uggh.
Clown Romney actually thinks he can challenge Trump. Laughable.
