Wait. It comes as a surprise to President Trump that many world leaders, especially from the Middle East, oppose him recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's historic and undivided capital?
Facing dark warnings of a historic misstep and widespread unrest, US President Donald Trump on Monday delayed a decision on whether to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital and move the US embassy there.
The White House said Trump would miss a deadline to decide on shifting the embassy from Tel Aviv, after a frantic 48 hours of public warnings from allies and private phone calls between world leaders.
When he was running for president, Trump promised voters he would recognize Jerusalem as Israel's eternal and undivided capital. He would also, he said, move the American embassy to that city (from Tel Aviv).
He has now been president for almost one year. If he wanted to do it, he could've done this on his first day in office.
White House spokesman Hogan Gidley says:
The president has been clear on this issue from the get-go: It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
Oh, and why is that? The "when" doesn't matter one bit. Those who oppose this move won't change their mind next year. Or the year after. Or anytime else in the coming 100 years for that matter.
If Trump truly wants to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital -- if that wasn't an election gimmick -- there's no reason whatsoever to "wait" to do so. Nothing will or can happen in the coming years to change the minds of those who oppose it...

NEVER take advice from your adversary!!!!!!!
Da+n it. Who is running foreign policy? Trump or the Deep State State Department?
waiting until after the tax stuff is signed?
This is simply wrong.
What MAY change in the future is an agreement among all parties to establish the legal status of Jerusalem beyond its status as laid out in the 1947 UN plan for the partition of Palestine.
President Trump is right to be cautious on this.
Heck -- this is hardly a serious priority for the United States right now, anyway.
Or the global / European elite.
Criticism never has stopped him before. I think he should do this, because it is RIGHT.
What's the connection between the two?
Interesting how other nations get so bent on the location of another nations capital. Maybe there is a demonic spirit that attempts to for all Gods purposes./s
I would like to know how much moving it would cost and what benefits would be gained from it.
Israel must have asked him to delay it again.
Thanks for the leftwing, Hate-Israel talking points.
no connection, just a matter of political momentum and not letting one overshadow the other
If that's what you consider a "leftwing, Hate-Israel talking point," then no wonder FR's quarterly fundraisers last through an entire quarter nowadays.
The initial moving costs would be about $40 (5 gallons of gas, currently $8.28 per gallon), to drive the removed placard from the old Tel Aviv embassy building to Jerusalem to put it on the new embassy.
Perhaps an additional $1.59 if a new set of screws are used.
Sarcasm?
We already have an office building in Jerusalem.
We only have to change the sign on the door.
Plus, we get to rent out or sell a fairly large building in Tel Aviv.
A plus all the way around.
When DJT caves on the Jerusalem issue, it will signal the beginning of the next big ME war on Israel because the Islamists will believe DJT is weak - whatever the real truth may be.
So in your thinking (?) process,
not agreeing with your objection to moving the US Embassy to Jerusalem
is equal to not voting for Donald Trump
and being against the survival of FR.
Typical leftwing, Alinsky method of attack.
I would like it better if he kept his campaign promise, he has delayed it one year already.
If you want NK to believe what you say then committing to doing as you say is important.
Backing one of your best allies is important.
If he doesn’t do this he should NEVER seek peace over there, he would be seen as a tool of the Fakestinians who don’t want peace. Remember we are still paying the PLO money they donate to Terrorist Home payroll.
