ABC News president James Goldston excoriated staff Monday over Brian Ross' major error on a report about former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, and announced that Ross, the network's chief investigative reporter, will no longer cover stories related to President Trump.
Goldston also told staffers that the network was conducting a "full review" of the error and its aftermath.
Ross had initially reported Friday morning that Flynn was prepared to testify that Donald Trump as a candidate had instructed him to reach out to the Russians. Ross said more than seven hours later on "World News Tonight" that his information was actually that Flynn was prepared to testify Trump made the request as president-elect. On Saturday evening, ABC News said Ross had been suspended for four weeks without pay for what it termed the "serious error."
During ABC News' morning editorial call Monday, audio of which was obtained by CNN, Goldston excoriated his staff for the error.
"I don't think ever in my career have I felt more rage and disappointment and frustration that I felt through this weekend and through the last half of Friday," Goldston said.
"I don't even know how many times we've talked about this, how many times we have talked about the need to get it right," he added. "That how we have to be right and not first. About how in this particular moment, with the stakes as high as these stakes are right now, we cannot afford to get it wrong."

I wonder if Brian Ross shorted the market on Friday?
The irony here is rich!
CNN calling out ABC on “Fake News”?
Is that not the definition of an Oxymoron?
:)
Sobering, explicit support FOR the KGB AGAINST the US president by Kennedy in direct negotiations.
...Ross, the network’s chief investigative reporter, will no longer cover stories related to President Trump...well, that’s something.....
I wish the same would happen to Stephanopoulos.

I wish the same would happen to Stephanopoulos.
Chewing them out for getting caught!
And complicit media colluding with the DNC during elections as we’ve seen several times now.
And they should lose their broadcast license.
The error didn't libel or slander Flynn.
An early Christmas gift from Brian Ross and ABC to lawyers on both sides, luxury car builders and Yacht brokers.
It was his ultimate decision, no? Underlings get thrown under the bus?
LOL!
“D@mn you! You’ve got to be more careful not to get caught creating #FakeNews!!!”
I think the bigger problem is all of the people who had their stop loss orders triggered because of that big spike down. Now somebody else owns their stock because of the big lie.
Good point.
The downward spike was short-lived - which is why I commented about the people who just happened to place 'sell' requests at the wrong time - but you are correct, a larger swath of folks got robbed just because they were using stop loss settings.
Brian Ross and ABC should be culpable for these losses.
Translation of entire article:
Those who care about nothing but corporate profits at Disney, i.e. ‘The Suits’, beat up on the President of ABC News, i.e the ‘Head Pencil Geek’
“”That how we have to be right and not first. About how in this particular moment, with the stakes as high as these stakes are right now, we cannot afford to get it wrong.””
Oops. I wonder if any heads will actually roll at ABC? If not, then the above is all just horseshit.
“Why hasnt Ross been fired?”
exactly. and everyone at ABC who allowed him to break into regular programming with this fake news as if WWIII had started or something ...
How about going after Joy Behar on the View ?
She essentially reported the story, too because she read his tweet to thunderous applause.
But he’s still working for abc...
