ABC News president James Goldston excoriated staff Monday over Brian Ross' major error on a report about former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, and announced that Ross, the network's chief investigative reporter, will no longer cover stories related to President Trump.
Goldston also told staffers that the network was conducting a "full review" of the error and its aftermath.
Ross had initially reported Friday morning that Flynn was prepared to testify that Donald Trump as a candidate had instructed him to reach out to the Russians. Ross said more than seven hours later on "World News Tonight" that his information was actually that Flynn was prepared to testify Trump made the request as president-elect. On Saturday evening, ABC News said Ross had been suspended for four weeks without pay for what it termed the "serious error."
During ABC News' morning editorial call Monday, audio of which was obtained by CNN, Goldston excoriated his staff for the error.
"I don't think ever in my career have I felt more rage and disappointment and frustration that I felt through this weekend and through the last half of Friday," Goldston said.
"I don't even know how many times we've talked about this, how many times we have talked about the need to get it right," he added. "That how we have to be right and not first. About how in this particular moment, with the stakes as high as these stakes are right now, we cannot afford to get it wrong."

I recall the ‘somebody talked’ posters from WWII.
They don’t want the public to realize just how partisans these havks on the tv in their living room are.
Why hasn’t Ross been fired?
Why? After all, there’s never fake news presented...
The joke is on them, and we knew it would be.
what ‘error’?
The government figure in the investigation who leaked it to Ross still needs to be held accountable.
“””””ABC News president excoriates staff over Brian Ross’ Michael Flynn error””””
It was no error. They knew that they were lying.
the staff may now testify to this in Flynn’s multi million dollar siut agaisst ABC!!!
Is this the same “leader” that thinks George (Coke Head) Stephanopoulos is some kind of unbiased journalist or the other clear conflicts with all the Rat Activists and their relations to his “reporters”.
This story is Fake news itself!
So who got fired? Anybody at all?

Guess Mr. Goldston has had to field calls from SEC lawyers! This is a glaring CYA statement if I ever saw one!
No it was just a bald faced lie in my view. a Sophmore high school student in journalism would check that out. This is law suit time.
Taped on purpose to be used by (given to) CNN to make ABC News look “responsible and contrite after an innocent mistake.” He MAY actually be pissed, but CNN didn’t just ‘get a hold of the tape.’ It hurt them all, so they are all in it together to make ABC look responsible.
That announcement cost $billions in 401K money when the market freaked out over it. ABC should be sued out of business. I would think anyone who lost money as a result of this would have standing to sue them.
The importance of getting fake news right cannot be understated !!!
