Former national security advisor Michael Flynn spoke with a "senior official" in President’s Trump's transition team at the Mar-a-Lago resort to discuss what he should communicate to the Russian ambassador in a highly-scrutinized series of phone calls in December of 2016, according to federal prosecutors.
Flynn and the senior officials discussed both the recently implemented U.S. sanctions on Russia, as well as the fact that they did not want Russia to escalate friction between the two nations, lawyers on special counsel Robert Mueller's team told a federal judge Friday.
After the discussion, Flynn telephoned the Russian ambassador, Sergey Kislyak. Afterwards, he called the senior transition official and reported the sanctions discussion, prosecutors said.
Kislyak later followed up with Flynn and affirmed that Russia would moderate its response to the sanctions, put in place by then-President Obama. Flynn communicated that exchange to other transition officials, prosecutors said.
Flynn on Friday pleaded guilty to one count of providing false statements to federal investigators, thereby admitting to the charges made by Mueller's prosecutors.
According to court documents filed by Mueller, Flynn lied when he told investigators that he did not ask Kislyak to "refrain from escalating the situation" in response to sanctions that Obama had levied on the Russian Federation.
Flynn also lied, the counsel said, when Flynn said he did not ask the ambassador to either delay or defeat a related U.N. Security Council vote. Prosecutors told Judge Rudolph Contreras that Flynn was told by the senior member of Trump transition team to reach out to other countries to influence the U.N. vote, in an effort to delay or defeat the resolution.

Last week there were reports that the POTUS, and/or those closest to him (Maybe Ty Cobb, stated that the investigation is progressing rapidly and is expected to be complete by the end of the year. I can’t help but think that POTUS and company know exactly where this is going, and are quite OK with the imminent results. The Dems will try to make these tertiary indictments all about the POTUS, but at the end of the day they will have only the court of public opinion to play in. And the POTUS is undefeated in that venue.
That’s right. Hillary is one of them and can lie to the FBI.

Heck, if the Nobel committee could nominate Obama for a “Prize” after being in office a mere 10 days, they surely would’ve nominated Her Thighness a month before she even got in the White House!

Except for Hillary and her gang; where she agreed for FBI to talk with her as long as there were no notes taken, recorded etc. Thus, can’t be accused of lying to the FBI.

Flynn, a lifelong DEMOCRAT and Obama appointment, WAS in fact in bed with Putin. Thank God he, and Manafort, are off the team.
If anything, this makes Trump look good.
Both Flynn and Manafort were in bed with Putin. Manafort represented Putin's puppet in the Ukraine. Meanwhile, that puppet's opponent, a pro-US candidate, was nearly killed in an assassination attempt. His face is forever pocked-mocked as a result.
And Flynn was tight with KGB Putin via the state-funded/state-controlled 'news' outlet, Russia Today (RT). He was even invited to sit at Putin's private table, 2 seats away from him, at a special Russia Today event. He later got up and spoke at the event.
Your hatred for Russia and Putin has addled your brain. Sort of like someone who wears green colored lenses in their glasses, everything looks green.
I am not a Putin fan, I just like to see things as they are. And Flynn is a white hat, not a black hat.
I think so. I believe Trump was a bit naive on Russia early on. However, since adding Pence, Sessions, Haley, he's really come around and now seems to know much more about who and what he's dealing with when it comes to Russia. Flynn and Manafort were both snakes.
