In the last 16 months, Kaepernicks truth has been twisted, distorted and used for political gain. It has cost him at least a year of his NFL career and the income that should have come with it. But still, it is his truth. He has not wavered from it. He does not regret speaking it. He has caused millions of people to examine it. And, quietly, he has donated nearly a million dollars to support it.
For all those reasonsfor his steadfastness in the fight for social justice, for his adherence to his beliefs no matter the costColin Kaepernick is the recipient of the 2017 Sports Illustrated Muhammad Ali Legacy Award. Each year SI and the Ali family honor a figure who embodies the ideals of sportsmanship, leadership and philanthropy and has used sports as a platform for changing the world. I am proud to be able to present this to Colin for his passionate defense of social justice and civil rights for all people, says Lonnie Ali, Muhammads widow. Like Muhammad, Colin is a man who stands on his convictions with confidence and courage, undaunted by the personal sacrifices he has had to make to have his message heard. And he has used his celebrity and philanthropy to the benefit of some of our most vulnerable community members.

Posting stuff from the Onion again Lowbridge?
The only belief he has is "It's all about Colin".
I wish :-)
Social Justice
Not you too, SI???
This is the result of the last 3 decades of libtards promoting ONLY each other to positions in management
Who knew?
It doesnt take much to be a hero in this day and age.
Poor, oppressed Colin Kaepernick always being held down by The Man...
Leftards awarding awards to other leftards. Worthless. One more magazine I’ll never buy.
Next stop, a Nobel Peace Prize. After that? An Academy award, an ESPY, and every other phony liberal award made to express a political statement.
Feh.
Too bad, it used to be a pretty good magazine.
The “Citizen of the Year” is given another award for Disrespecting the National Flag and Anthem as is required by his job.
Another Bull $hit Nobel Peace Prize given to an idiot by idiots.
This article goes full retard in the first few sentences with this nonsense about Kaepernick's "truth". There is truth, and there is falsehood. You don't get to take a falsehood and say, "well, hey, it's my personal truth". Leftists sound so dumb when they try to pull that.
For Sports Illustrated to name Kaepernick the Legacy Award Winner is about the same as Time naming Osama bin Laden the Man of the Year for 2001.
No it didn't!
He opted out of the last year of contract with the 49ers.
